Aria's POV
I move forward instinctively, but Tim's arm shoots out, forcing me back behind his protective stance. His voice cuts through the night air like broken glass. "Stay back, Aria. You've caused enough trouble already."
My heart hammers against my ribs as I push against his immovable form. "I won't stand by while blood is spilled because of me. Just return to the temple, Tim. I promise I'll come back. You have my word."
Victor's mouth twists into a cruel smile, his voice dripping with mockery. "Listen to the knight, sweetheart. Run along back to your precious temple and leave me with what belongs to me."
"She belongs to no one but the Moon Goddess," Tim's roar echoes off the surrounding trees. "She is a sacred Daughter, meant to remain pure and untouched until her final breath."
Victor's laugh is dark and bitter. "Good thing your Moon Goddess means nothing to me then."
