Ximena's POV
By Wednesday morning, I could feel it in my bones that something had shifted.
The moment I stepped through the school doors, everything seemed slightly tilted from its usual axis. Glenda wasn't bouncing around like her typical tornado self. Instead, she approached my locker wearing this massive hoodie that made my brain stutter because it looked exactly like something Anton would wear.
"Everything okay with you?" I asked, studying her face.
"Of course," she replied way too quickly, then gave me one of those bright smiles that screamed back off from this topic.
I decided not to push it, but the uneasy feeling settled into my ribs like a bruise.
Glenda never did anything halfway. When she was upset, she let the whole world know. When she was happy, she practically glowed. But today she seemed muted somehow, like someone had turned down her volume.
Then there was my brother.
