Ximena's POV
By mid-morning, I was already done with everything. The day felt like it was crawling by at half speed, dragging me through each minute like I was walking through mud.
Every classroom felt suffocating, every conversation around me sounded like nails on a chalkboard. I couldn't pinpoint what was eating at me, just this electric restlessness buzzing under my skin that made me want to break something.
Glenda cornered me at my locker between periods, pushing her designer sunglasses up into her hair despite being inside the building.
"You look like you want to set the school on fire," she observed, leaning against the locker next to mine. "Spill."
I yanked my textbook out harder than necessary. "There's nothing to spill."
"Right." Glenda's voice dripped with disbelief. "And I'm the queen of England."
"I'm just having an off day."
She crossed her arms, studying me like I was some fascinating science experiment. "Off day or running away from something?"
