Veronica's POV
As I turned to leave, Liana rushed forward, blocking my exit. "Hold on! You can't just walk away!"
"What do you want?" I asked.
Her face flushed with anger. "After all the damage you've done to Alonzo, you owe us compensation!"
"Compensation? Are you serious?" I arched an eyebrow. "If we're talking about paying debts with lives, maybe you should consider what happened to Javion. How many of your lives would that be worth?"
Liana fell silent. The memory of years ago haunted her—knowing it should have been me who burned alive instead of Javion made her blood run cold. Would I expose the truth to the authorities?
They'd certainly punish the real murderer, but I wasn't planning to eliminate them all at once. No, I intended to make them suffer slowly, watching each one descend into hell.
