Chapter 64 - Chapter 64

If any other guy had declared such a thing to one of the princesses of the Nara Clan, everyone would consider him a living corpse. This aggressive kunoichi didn't tolerate even a single lustful glance in her direction, let alone words. And although the clan head refused all suitors wishing to marry this beauty, according to unconfirmed rumors this "beast" was destined to become the wife of the future clan head—to keep the talents within the family and to prevent him from relaxing.

All members of the Nara Clan were smarter than most people, so half of Konoha's administrative positions were held by them. But the male part of the clan had long been prone to incredible laziness, compensated by the strictness of their wives. If the clan lacked a sufficiently talented, beautiful, and strong-willed girl to marry off to the clan head's son, the great elder and current clan head personally searched for the most noble, talented, and willful girls from outside.

Kenshin was very lucky that Kasumi felt very positively toward him; otherwise she would have tried to strangle or bite him to death, unable to tolerate such an insult. By nature she was very unyielding and willful. Nara Shikaku gladly encouraged this trait in his niece and let her grow as aggressive and confident as possible, quietly chuckling at his young son who would one day receive such an incredible "gift."

Shikaku was in indescribable rage when he learned that his niece was missing and possibly killed. He immediately mobilized an elite squad of clan Jonin and personally set out in search, arriving at the cave where Kasumi had been trapped on the morning of the 188th day.

"Sir, my men have searched the entire area and mobilized all nearby groups. We managed to capture all three. Kasumi's team confirmed these are the exact missing-nin she distracted onto herself."

Shikaku had been in absolute fury all the previous night, racing to this godforsaken place at full speed and scouring the forest like some Genin. Hearing that the presumed killers of his beloved niece had been found, he grunted and ordered them brought to him.

"Aaaah! Don't kill us, please! Shikaku-sama, have mercy, we didn't know!" One of the missing-nin commander's subordinates screamed, falling to his knees. Realizing whose path they had crossed, he was horrified and immediately began begging for his life.

Shikaku said nothing, but the Jonin dragging the missing-nin grabbed him by the collar and pulled him away from his lord, striking him "lightly" in the ribs. What was "light" for a Jonin resulted in three broken ribs and a huge amount of blood spat out for the Chunin.

"Inoyama-san, they're yours." Shikaku said, not bothering to talk to this worthless trash, deciding to trust the brother of the Yamanaka clan head.

The handsome, charming blond smiled and politely nodded to the Nara clan head, then sternly looked at the three and formed several seals, whispering: "Psycho Mind Transfer!"

Three invisible lines immediately formed in the air and pierced the heads of all three missing-nin, connecting to Yamanaka Inoyama and then entering Shikaku's head. He voluntarily allowed the line into his mind and could dispel the technique with a single act of will, so without much fear he began viewing the filtered memories of the three missing-nin.

In five minutes Shikaku saw everything. From the ambush on Kasumi's team to her pursuit and the collapse of the cave ceiling. He also clearly saw how the missing-nin "leader" nearly killed his beloved niece several times and repeatedly called her offensive names.

After the session ended, Shikaku's rage was palpable, and two of his subordinates stepped back, seeing their lord's shadow split into countless threads and snake chaotically in all directions.

Casting a glance at the silent missing-nin commander, Shikaku took a step toward him, covering five meters in an instant. The missing-nin leader trembled and closed his eyes, accepting his fate. He was no fool and knew surviving an encounter with a great clan head was impossible. Shikaku's shadows terrified the entire shinobi world, and no one wanted to meet him on the battlefield. But the missing-nin commander was unlucky, and now this incredibly dangerous shinobi stood right in front of him.

Less than a second had passed since the end of the Yamanaka clan technique when Shikaku was already opposite the missing-nin commander and instantly delivered a kick. The eyes of all Shikaku's subordinates and Inoyama narrowed, and they instantly jumped thirty meters aside, barely making it.

The missing-nin commander never even registered the kick, and his entire body was literally torn into the tiniest scraps. The Elite Jonin's strike was so fast and powerful that it several times exceeded the speed of sound, and its aftermath shredded the two missing-nin sitting three meters from their boss. When everything was "long" over, a loud explosion sounded, symbolizing the breaking of the sound barrier. Shikaku had already moved aside when the consequences of his flash of anger manifested.

The not-fully-cleared collapse was completely cleared. All the stones were blasted inward or scattered aside. Huge boulders cracked or broke, and in some places red stains were visible from the scraps of the three missing-nin bodies. The shockwave from an Elite Jonin's strike was enough to crush massive boulders and create depressions in the mountain. Even the nearby Jonin wiped sweat from their brows, not entirely sure they could survive such a powerful blow if they ever angered the clan head.

The shadows behind Shikaku stopped dancing in all directions, symbolizing that he had vented part of his anger on the bodies of the three destroyed enemies. But his heart still ached for his beloved niece, whom he had taken under his care after her parents' death. He had promised to look after her, and now it hurt especially to realize he might not have kept that promise.
