Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

Kenshin pulled the stunned girl inside and threw the things in the "corridor", locking behind him the peculiar door. Aya couldn't believe her eyes; she felt as if she had fallen into a fairy tale, or at least into the home of an incredibly rich person.

"D-did you build this? But how?" the girl asked in amazement.

"Every wizard has his secrets… And you haven't even seen all this beauty in good lighting!" the young man answered proudly and pulled the girl into the "living room".

Kenshin took out two candles prepared in advance from Aya's house, lit them, and extinguished the torch, handing one candle to the girl, not wanting to ruin the beautiful mosaic ceiling of the living room with soot.

The girl took the candle in stunned amazement and stared at the magnificence that opened before her; for the first time she saw such a beautiful dwelling and couldn't hide her huge surprise.

"Here, come here, hold this," Kenshin said, handing her the second candle, while he took a small stepladder and placed it in the middle of the room, then climbed onto it and began unscrewing the "ceiling fixture". Aya didn't understand what he was doing but obediently did everything required of her.

Kenshin somehow unscrewed the white fixture and carefully climbed down with it to the floor. Under the girl's interested gaze, he unscrewed the upper part of the fixture, then took out a small nail and began scratching something on the inside. The young man thoughtfully scratched something for several minutes, then stopped, then scratched again, not bothering to explain.

And although in his thoughts he had already drawn these runes several times and even scratched them on the ground that morning before shaving, the "ritual" took him a good five minutes, and several times he almost made a mistake.

Inspired, Kenshin climbed back onto the stepladder and began screwing the fixture back in, then scratched something on the outside of the fixture, and after a few seconds the fixture blinked several times and then lit up with bright white light, frightening the poor girl.

Seeing the suddenly lit fixture, Aya jumped back in fright and almost dropped both candles, squealing in fear.

"Aaah! Oh god, Kenshin, what is this?" the girl muttered in shock, squinting from the bright light.

"This is a primitive lighting formation. It doesn't yet allow turning on and off by anyone, but tomorrow I'll take care of it and make everything properly!" Kenshin answered in the coolest tone possible, as if it were nothing, but no matter how hard he tried he couldn't hide the sparkle in his eyes and the occasional smile. The young man was immensely proud of the result.

Getting used to the bright light, Aya began looking around and again couldn't restrain a surprised sigh: "Oh god, how beautiful…" the girl muttered, admiring the beauty of the wallpaper and mosaic ceiling. She couldn't resist lightly stroking the back of the large leather sofa, enjoying the sensations.

"Don't be so afraid, it doesn't bite. Here, sit," Kenshin said and sat on the sofa, seating the girl next to him.

"Ah! Oh god, Kenshin, we're dirty and will ruin such beauty…" Aya moaned and tucked her whole body in, wanting to touch the unseen luxury as little as possible.

"Stop it, this is our home now, and you're not a guest here but the mistress. You could even tear this sofa, and no one would say anything to you."

"W-what? Tear such beauty? Never!" the girl declared, relaxing a little, with a tender smile, and finally leaned back on the sofa back, moaning softly for the first time on such a soft and high-class sofa.

Kenshin himself leaned back on the sofa back and relaxed his tired muscles a little. After resting for five minutes, he got up from the sofa and said: "Rest a bit, you can lie down, the sofa doesn't bite. I need to do one more thing."

Aya nodded and continued admiring the beautiful wallpaper, the large dining table, the chest of drawers, two armchairs, and many smaller details, enjoying the luxury of her new home.

Meanwhile Kenshin headed to the bathroom, lit a candle, placed it on the sink, and dragged the stepladder in, starting on another ceiling fixture. The second time the young man drew the necessary formation much faster and made lighting in the bathroom.

Having finished with the lighting, he cast a glance at the large tank attached to the wall near the ceiling, like a "water heater". Initially he wanted to install a classic water heater, but when he realised that the "system" would not allow any electronics, he changed his mind. As the basis for his "magical water heater" he took a typical tank from Aya's backyard, and the system immediately picked up the images and offered him suitable design options, adapting to his desires.

Kenshin chose exactly the tank that could be disassembled into two parts without much difficulty. The tools at the young man's disposal were quite ordinary. The system allowed the creation of the simplest tools such as kitchen knives, a wrench, hammer, axe, saw, and several others. No weapons or tools for narrowly specialised tasks.

And if all refuge items had a ban on being taken outside the refuge, then for tools this ban was partially lifted, and tools could be taken outside for up to eight hours. After that time the tool disappeared and reappeared in its former place only after 30 days.

After reading all possible explanations in the system, the young man was very surprised that the "system", although it gave enormous opportunities, practically did not leave any loopholes for obtaining dishonest advantages where it was not originally intended. Whether it was taking out and selling things from the home or using electricity to create technological things and mechanisms.

But Kenshin was glad for what he had. He was pleased that at least he wouldn't have to worry about a warm bed and hot shower. The young man also understood that if he did not become powerful enough, a "Kage"-level shinobi would need only one wave of the hand to destroy his magnificent dwelling, and soft pillows with fluffy robes would not help him in battle at all.
