Chapter 41: A Great View

"Hello." Harry greeted her, still hanging upside down. "Am I interrupting something? I thought I heard some argument."

Ginny glanced at him. "Argument? No, this was just a—ouch!" Dean pulled her away.

"Get lost, Potter! I was having a private conversation with my girlfriend."

Ginny now became truly furious. She turned to the boy and kicked him between the legs with as much strength as she could muster.

"Urgg!" Dean immediately released his grip on her arm.

"I am not—" She kicked him again. "Your-!" Another one.

Dean brought his hands down to cover himself.

"Girlfriend!" Seeing the opening, Ginny finished it with a straight punch to his face, sending the boy tumbling down.

"And don't touch me again!" She pointed at him, rage clear on her face.

Dean couldn't really respond with words, only painful noises.

"I did try to warn him… didn't I try to warn him?" said the hat attached to Harry's head. "The punch at the end was a nice touch."

"Oh dear… did I hit him too hard?" Now that her fury had passed a bit, she was starting to get worried while looking at Dean on the floor of the hallway.

"Nah...kick him again," V suggested.

"People are coming," Harry said as he extended his hand to her through the window. "Grab it."

Ginny did so without hesitation and grabbed his hand.

The moment she did, he pulled them both onto the roof of the train, and just a moment later, students started to come out of their cabins to see what all the ruckus was about.

The only thing they found was Dean Thomas on the floor, with a broken lip and using his hands to cover his crotch.

"Phew… that was close." Ginny sighed.

"It was very satisfying to watch, though," V pointed out.

"Whoa! …hold on…" Ginny suddenly panicked when she realised that she was currently on the roof of the train while it was travelling at full speed.

But when she looked down at her feet, she noticed that they were stuck to the surface of the roof. "A sticking charm?"

"Yes, I didn't want you to go flying off," Harry said.

"See? He is such a gentleman," V added.

"Hey, shut up already." Harry covered the hat's mouth.

Ginny grinned. "Well, thank you. You showed up again at the right moment and saved me."

"And again, you saved yourself," Harry said. "You didn't need me at all."

"That is not true. You saved me from a very awkward moment," Ginny responded.

"Ok…" Harry wasn't sure what she meant. Every interaction with normal living people felt awkward to him.

Ginny looked down at her feet again. "Ehm… Harry. Are we stuck here for the rest of the ride? Because we still have like two hours left."

Harry tilted his head in confusion. "Of course not. You can walk all you want around the roof."

"How am I supposed to do that? My feet are glued to the roof with the sticking charm," Ginny said, sounding very confused.

"Just try it." Harry took a few steps around to show her.

"What the…" She looked at his feet and then at hers before attempting to take a step.

Much to her shock, her right foot lifted up, and as soon as she placed it back down, it was stuck again and well secured to the roof.

"Go on. Keep walking," Harry told her as he took a few more steps back. "We can go to the last carriage. You get a great view."

Ginny then began walking and followed Harry across the roof of the moving train.

"Harry, what spell did you use? That is not how the sticking charm works at all."

"That is because he is removing it from your feet every time you move them and reapplying it when they touch the roof," V explained to her.

"What did you say?" She stopped.

"What is it?" Harry looked at her. "There is still a bit left to get there."

Ginny lifted her feet a few times to test what V was saying, and this time she noticed the sticking charm appearing and disappearing almost instantly.

She walked closer to him and pointed down. "Are you recasting the charms on my feet as I walk?"

"Yes." Harry looked a bit confused. "Are you worried that I would mess it up and you would end up falling and breaking your ankles at a very painful ninety-degree angle?"

"Well… I am a bit worried about that now…" Ginny muttered.

"Then don't," said Harry. "That hasn't happened in a very long time. I have it under control now." He moved quickly around the roof, even stopping at the edge a few times. "See?"

Seeing his confidence, Ginny began to walk again, but as she did, she also started to think about the ridiculous display of magical mastery she was seeing.

Harry was casting several spells per second on two different people… each one of them had to be used at the perfect time to prevent falls, and he was doing this without uttering a sound or holding a wand.

"I think Hermione would have a heart attack if she saw you doing this," Ginny finally said.

"If I have understood her competitive personality correctly," V said, "I believe you are thinking of an aneurysm instead."

"A...what?"

"Here we are," said Harry.

Before realising it, Ginny was standing on the last carriage of the train. "I think my brother and the others are right beneath us."

"That would be correct," Harry said, pointing to the left part of the roof. "They should be there."

"Do we go down now?" Ginny asked.

"Ehm…" Harry made a complicated expression. "Can we wait a bit longer?" He conjured a bench in front of him.

"Wow… you really have been hiding your talent, haven't you?" Ginny said while looking at the conjured bench. After all, conjuring wasn't taught until the sixth year, and they were supposed to start with very small objects.

"We could sit here for a while. There is a nice breeze, and the view is better than on the inside."

Ginny glanced at Harry for a moment before answering. "Can't argue with that. Sure… let's sit here for a bit."
