Chapter 43: Shui Bing'er, Training Together
Yu Tianlin stood sideways on the tree trunk, then walked up step by step under the girl's surprised gaze, finally reaching a branch and hanging upside down from it.
After finishing his little demonstration, he pushed off lightly, flipped down from the tree, and landed steadily. He looked at the girl and smiled.
"How was it? Pretty impressive, right?"
"Interesting. I want to try too."
The girl's eyes were full of curiosity as she eagerly raised her foot and placed it on the tree trunk.
"Ahem."
Yu Tianlin coughed and quickly stopped her.
"Tree climbing and water treading are different. Water treading needs repulsive force, but tree climbing needs suction force."
He glanced at her skirt and added, "If you want to try this kind of training, I suggest you start with water treading. As for climbing trees, you are wearing a skirt right now. It might not be very convenient."
Climbing a tree in a skirt and hanging upside down was… a bit too exciting.
Realizing what he meant, the girl froze for a moment. Her pretty face flushed slightly, and she hurriedly gave up on the tree, turning to walk back toward the lake instead.
Yu Tianlin had originally come to practice water treading, so he followed her back to the lakeside.

Just like that, the morning passed. With the girl's help, Yu Tianlin's progress soared.
Unlike tree climbing, which he could only practice during his free time in the afternoons, the Five Elements Academies exchange event lasted a full seven days, and there were no morning classes during this period. That meant Yu Tianlin could train water treading from morning until evening every day.
Under normal circumstances, he estimated that he would need about three and a half days to fully master water treading. With the girl's help freezing the lake whenever he slipped, that time would be cut in half.
Feeling his gains over just half a day, Yu Tianlin calculated silently.
If everything went smoothly, he should be able to completely master water treading by tomorrow night.
The girl was also exceptionally talented. As a control type Spirit Master, her ice attribute Spirit power was easier to refine and suppress than his lightning attribute Spirit power. After only half a day, she had already managed to gather most of the cold intent in her Spirit power, leaving only fine adjustments.
Give her another two days and she would probably achieve full internal control, and complete water treading on top of that.
With his rapid progress, Yu Tianlin's mood rose so much that he almost wanted to skip lunch and keep training until he mastered it in one go.
But he could not just drag a girl to starve in front of a lake. Besides, a good meal would only make it easier to continue training afterward. So, in the end, he took the girl with him to Thunder Academy's cafeteria.

"Yu Tianlin." The girl repeated it softly, then smiled. "My name is Shui Bing'er. Nice to meet you."
"Shui Bing'er?"
Yu Tianlin finally turned around, a hint of surprise in his eyes.
He had already guessed, but hearing it confirmed still caught him off guard.
In the original story, Shui Bing'er had always given him the impression of a calm, composed, and intelligent girl. He had not expected that, at this age, she would actually be this lively.
Then again, according to the information Lei Bao had shown him when he first arrived at Thunder Academy, Shui Bing'er was only ten years old right now, still just a girl.
"Judging from your tone, you already recognized me," Shui Bing'er said curiously.
Yu Tianlin smiled.

"We can regroup in the evening," Shui Bing'er said, still shaking her head. "As for watching others spar, that is not very meaningful. It is better to use that time to improve ourselves."
