Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: She Doesn't Want to Go Through That Again

The two called out each other's names inside the cabin.

Rose, having overcome a myriad of difficulties, finally found Jack.

She used an axe to cut Jack's shackles.

Together, they escaped to the deck.

However, aside from the nobility, women and children were to board first.

After Rose boarded the boat, looking at Jack standing on the deck, she couldn't help but feel fearful.

Because she understood that there weren't enough lifeboats; a group of commoners was destined to die on the ship.

So, she jumped back onto the ship.

Jack was naturally frantic and asked why she jumped back.

Rose embraced Jack and answered him using the words Jack said when they first met.

"You jump, I jump."

Fang Qiu wrote the sincere expression of their emotions very naturally, without any affectation.

Moreover, Fang Qiu actually used the foreshadowing from earlier.

It was a pleasant surprise.

Just as Bai Qing was immersed in Jack and Rose's love, a violent sound of breaking air rang out.

A sharp dagger pierced deeply into the deck beside them.

Seeing the first strike miss, Cal charged at them holding a longsword.

Jack hurriedly took Rose to flee for their lives.

Reading this, Bai Qing couldn't help but get nervous.

If it were any other author, this is where Jack and Rose would kill Cal together, then live happily ever after.

But the person writing this book was Fang Qiu...

She suddenly remembered that a month ago, when she asked if they had any illnesses, she didn't ask if they died...

For a moment, she panicked a bit.

Given Fang Qiu's atrocious behavior with the last book, she didn't doubt in the slightest that Cal would kill either Jack or Rose.

Evil Fang Qiu! She wouldn't be writing a tragedy again, would she?

Cal chased them all the way to the main hall, which was already half-flooded.

Seeing the two swim towards where water was seeping in, Cal had to give up the chase and forcefully threw the longsword in his hand at Jack and Rose.

But in the end, it didn't hit.

Seeing Cal leave after impotently shouting cruel words, Bai Qing finally let out a sigh of relief.

Fang Qiu had finally turned over a new leaf.

It seemed the previous condemnation from readers had some effect.

However, the subsequent plot not only didn't let her relax but raised her heart to her throat.

Since they couldn't go back the way they came, they could only run deeper into the cabin. This process, rendered by Fang Qiu's powerful writing skills, appeared extremely tense, especially the scene where Jack and Rose struggled with the lock to open the door.

Bai Qing felt as if she herself was in the seawater about to submerge her nose.

It was suffocating.

Finally, they escaped the cabin, but the ship's hull had mostly sunk into the water.

Jack took Rose to the bow.

Wails and screams came from all around, people losing their lives every moment.

With a harsh screech of steel, the ship's keel snapped, unable to bear the load.

The bow smashed down hard, then was pulled into the seabed by the hull.

Jack and Rose also fell into the freezing seawater.

Bai Qing no longer had time to care about commenting on the writing style or anything else; her attention was entirely focused on the messy text.

There wasn't much manuscript left.

Jack found a wooden board, but this board was only big enough to hold one person.

Jack let Rose get on the board, while he lay on the edge.

At this moment, Rose remembered the words Jack told her when they first met.

"The water that night was very cold, so cold it felt like ten thousand arrows piercing the heart, like thousands of needles stabbing all over the body, unable to think, the only thing you could feel was pain."

She wanted Jack to get on the board and she would get down, but Jack decisively refused.

Time passed slowly, and many people had already frozen to death.

Jack lay on the edge of the board, trembling all over as he spoke his heart.

He encouraged the dying Rose, telling her she would definitely survive the ordeal.

He told Rose that winning that ticket was the greatest achievement of his life.

To have met her, this life was enough.

"Promise me, you must promise me, that you will survive. No matter what happens, you must survive. Even if it's hopeless, you cannot give up. Swear to keep this promise."

"I swear."

"Never give up."

It's always the hardest during painful moments.

She didn't know how much time had passed.

Finally, the rescuers arrived.

The sea surface was full of frozen dead people.

Rose, already slipping into unconsciousness, heard the sound of the rescue boat and forced herself to perk up.

She called Jack's name, but Jack could no longer respond to her call.

Rose held Jack's hand.

It felt ice cold, just like the freezing seawater. She wept in despair, even her weeping was so powerless.

Seeing the rescue boat going further away.

She remembered the oath Jack made her swear. She could only give up on Jack, watching helplessly as he sank into the seabed.

She tried hard to swim near a crew member and blew the crew member's whistle.

She was thus saved.

Although there was more content after, Bai Qing didn't read any further.

Or rather, she couldn't read anymore.

Her vision was blocked by tears gushing out, blurring everything before her eyes.

She wiped her tears, and just as her vision returned, she saw the words on the paper.

"My Heart Will Go On."

She couldn't hold it back anymore; tears dripped down her cheeks onto the manuscript paper, landing on the words "My Heart Will Go On".

The tears smeared the ink.

"Wuwuwu... Fang Qiu! You have no heart! After I treated you to so many Lotus Cakes! And treated you to Wanmin Restaurant!"

Bai Qing's crying immediately attracted the attention of everyone present. Seeing Bai Qing weeping like a pear blossom bathed in rain, and connecting it to Fang Qiu bringing the manuscript earlier, they instantly understood what was happening.

Fang Qiu's new book was a tragedy again.

Watching their junior cry so miserably, although they were busy, they gathered around.

When they saw the messy handwriting on the manuscript and the four words "My Heart Will Go On" smeared by Bai Qing's tears, they confirmed their guess.

That's right...

Just as they expected.

It was Fang Qiu's doing again...

They comforted Bai Qing, feeling torn between envy and relief.

On one hand, a top-tier author whose words were enough to make battle-hardened editors cry.

Just seeing the four words "My Heart Will Go On" made them feel a bit shaken in their hearts.

This control over words was impeccable.

But on the other hand, the manuscript handwriting was messy, and every time they reviewed the draft, they would cry a river, unable to sleep well for days, feeling unsettled.

It made one both love and hate her...

"Seniors, I'm fine, you go busy yourselves..."

She said through sobs.

"It's okay, I'm almost done with my work."

Bai Qing's senior, Li Ling, said.

"Almost done? Then Senior... do you want to read Fang Qiu's new book?"

Bai Qing asked subconsciously with red eyes.

"Uh?"

Li Ling froze, then hurriedly waved her hands awkwardly, saying: "I'll pass this time."

They get more immersed in books than ordinary readers, substitute themselves more, and pay more attention to details.

So, she still remembers how miserably she cried after reading Fang Qiu's Your Lie in April.

She was over twenty years old, yet she cried like a child.

Because the mood was too depressing, she drank a bit too much, and spilled wine on herself.

She had a bathing place at home. When she went home and took a bath, she suddenly thought of the plot in the book again.

She cried while bathing.

Her family thought something happened to her. Later, after explaining a hundred times, the misunderstanding was resolved.

This kind of experience, she didn't want to have again.
