Chapter 83 - Chapter 83: Fortress Tour (3)

[Third Person POV]

"And this is Krypto's own personal room," Clark said with a grin as he and Lara-El continued leading the group through the crystalline corridors of the Fortress of Solitude.

Before Clark could say another word, a white blur darted between everyone's legs — Krypto. The super-dog barked excitedly, his tail wagging with such force it looked like it could generate its own gust of wind. He circled around them twice, then bounded ahead into his room, barking back as if to say, 'Come on, slowpokes!'

Clark chuckled. "It seems he wants to give you guys a tour of his room himself."

Krypto let out a proud, echoing howl, chest puffed up as if confirming Clark's statement.

Inside, the room was surprisingly lively — not just a kennel or a corner, but a proper playground built out of alien crystal and Kryptonian tech. There was a small artificial sun lamp hanging overhead, casting warm light over a cushioned area filled with toys: rubber meteors, chewable replica spaceships, even a floating ball that hovered when he barked at it. A water bowl shaped like a mini Fortress sat in the corner, automatically refilling itself.

Krypto rushed from one toy to another, picking up a ball in his mouth and dropping it at Lala's feet before zipping over to grab his favorite plush — a miniature Superman doll, slightly chewed but clearly beloved. He barked proudly, tail wagging as if to say, 'Look what I've got!'

"Aww~" Both Lala and Momo cooed in unison, their hearts melting at the sight. Lala crouched down to pat his head while Momo laughed as Krypto nudged her hand with his nose, demanding another round of attention.

Seiko, meanwhile, stood off to the side with her arms crossed and an amused look on her face. "I've never had a dog give me a tour before," she admitted with a chuckle as Krypto zoomed past her again, proudly showing off a tug-rope made of strong and heavy metal fiber.

Clark laughed softly, watching his companion. "Yeah, he takes hospitality very seriously."

Krypto barked once more, wagging his tail so fast it looked like a blur of white light. He turned in a little circle and puffed out his chest, clearly expecting praise from the group for his excellent "tour guide" skills. Both Momo and Lala immediately knelt beside him, laughing as they ruffled the thick fur around his neck. Krypto leaned into their hands, his tail thumping the floor with delight as he sat up tall and proud.

"Good boy, Krypto!" Lala giggled, scratching under his chin.

"He's so cute!!" Momo added, pressing her cheek into his side.

The Superdog barked again as if to say, Yes, yes, I know. I'm amazing, before turning in one last happy circle. After a few more minutes of play and attention, Krypto gave a satisfied huff, deciding his duty as host was done. He trotted proudly back to his personal corner of his room which held a massive circular bed that seemed to mold perfectly to his shape. He jumped onto it, rolled around, then flopped down with a content sigh, closing his eyes as the others moved on.

Clark and Lara-El led the group deeper into the shimmering halls until they reached one of the most spacious chambers in the Fortress. The crystalline walls reflected light in soft shades of blue and silver, and in the center stood a bed so enormous it looked like something built for a small army.

"This," Lara-El said, gesturing toward it with a faint smile, "is Kal-El's master bedroom. It's rarely used, however, as it seems he prefers sleeping at the shrine."

Momo blinked twice, then looked between Clark and the bed in disbelief. "You can't be serious," she said, her voice dripping with astonishment. "What the hell do you even need a bed that big for? It's bigger than my entire room back home!"

Clark crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. "Hey, don't look at me like that. It was already like this when I first got the Fortress. I just never bothered to change it. And honestly? The thing's ridiculously comfortable. Not much reason to complain."

Both Momo and Lala pressed their palms onto the bed's edge, their hands sinking deep into the ultra-soft fabric.

"Wooaaah…" Momo breathed out while Lala chuckled, as the surface molded to their touch.

Without hesitation, Seiko plopped herself down onto the mattress and bounced lightly. "Okay, woah, this thing's amazing," she admitted before shooting Clark a look. "Remind me again — why are you spending nights at the shrine when you've got this treasure right here?"

Clark rubbed the bridge of his nose and muttered, "I'm not even going to dignify that with a response. Who the hell calls a mattress a treasure?"

As Seiko laughed quietly, Momo crouched down, slipping her shoes off with a mischievous grin. Clark didn't even need to open his eyes — he already knew what was coming. "Jump on my bed and I'll suplex you," he said flatly.

Momo clicked her tongue in mock disappointment, slipping her shoes back on. "Party popper," she grumbled under her breath, but the amused smile never left her face.

After a few more moments of gawking at the luxurious room, the group filed out, leaving the massive bed behind.

"Now then," Clark said as he led them down another hall, "that's about all the rooms worth mentioning. The rest are empty or haven't been given any real purpose yet. You can each take one if you want — decorate it however you like."

Both Momo and Lala gasped in unison, their eyes sparkling. "Are you serious?!" they exclaimed together, nearly bouncing on their toes.

Clark shrugged casually. "Go for it. Once Lala and I finish expanding the Fortress, there'll be plenty more space anyway. So, take a room, make it your own — the place is big enough to house all of you and then some."

Lara-El smiled and gestured down one of the glimmering corridors. "Come," she said warmly. "I'll show you which rooms are available, and you can decide for yourselves."

As Momo and Lala eagerly dashed after her, Seiko lingered for a moment beside Clark, giving him a sideways glance. "That was surprisingly generous of you," she remarked.

Clark raised an eyebrow. "What's that supposed to mean?" he asked, sounding almost offended.

Seiko shrugged lightly. "I just assumed you'd want to keep the place all to yourself. You did call it the Fortress of Solitude, didn't you?"

Clark let out a sigh and rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah, well… I can't seem to get rid of you people, so what's the point in fighting it? Besides, it's just a few rooms. It's not like you're gonna live here full-time."

Seiko smirked knowingly and tilted her head. "Momo probably won't, sure… but can you say the same about Lala?"

Clark froze for a moment, his expression blank before his eyes slowly narrowed. "…fuck," he muttered.

Seiko broke into laughter, covering her mouth while Clark glared at her, shaking his head. "Just go pick a damn room and stop bothering me," he grumbled, though a faint grin tugged at the corner of his lips as Seiko walked off still chuckling.
