Chapter 172 - Chapter 171: Stasis Field and Crusader Land Raider!

[This simulation ended after sixty-three days.]

[Reservable options obtained from this simulation.]

[1. Black Sword·Eight (Master Level)]

Note: "This is a power weapon exclusively for the Emperor's Champion, based on the two-handed sword 'Black Sword' of the Black Templar's first High Marshal, the first person under the Primarch, the 'Black Knight' Sigismund. It is the eighth Black Sword that has been successfully forged."

Note: "Its jet-black blade can easily cut through all flesh and armor, and can also greatly enhance the holder's strength."

Note: "Live by the sword, die by the sword. An ancient Terran proverb."

Note: "In the distant future, there is only war. The prophet Sigismund."

[2. The Head of Cacodominus (Holy Object)]

Note: "This is the remaining skull of the heretic psyker Cacodominus. It seems to still contain the strong unwillingness and resentment that the other party had before his death."

Note: "The holder will be immune to most psychic powers, and can use the psychic powers stored in advance to perform telekinetic, pyrokinetic, and telepathic attacks at will."

Note: "If the holder uses the Skull of Cacodominus for a long time, he may be repeatedly invaded by the strong resentment of Cacodominus, which will greatly increase his hatred towards the Imperium of Man and even the Inquisition."

Note: "Hatred and pain are the only sources of psychic power. Cacodominus."

[3. Crusader Land Raider (prototype) shrouded in a stasis field]

Note: "This is a Land Raider Crusader, modified by the Black Templar Artificer Simagus based on the standard Land Raider template. This was the first prototype built during the Jerulas Crusade."

Note: "Located on both sides of the Land Raider, a powerful fire array composed of a total of twelve bolt rifles can shred any enemy blocking the front. The twin assault cannons located above the Raider can also provide extremely powerful close-range fire suppression."

Note: "The new prototype was not actually put into use. After basic testing, it was placed in a stasis field and has been kept on the Black Templar's flagship 'Eternal Crusade'."

Note: "Metal box? Have you ever seen a metal box with such powerful firepower that it can transport the Brother Astartes? An unknown technical sergeant sarcastically said to an ignorant Brother Astartes."

The simulation ended.

The psychic echoes of the Warp and the smell of blood evaporated, replaced by the sterile, quiet air of the lounge. Nolan straightened his back, rolling his shoulders to work out the stiffness of the long session. He blinked his cyan wolf eyes, his gaze sharp and focused as he carefully scanned the simulator's reward options.

Nolan's eyes lingered on the first option. Black Sword? A precious power weapon for the Black Templars, a symbol of honor for the Emperor's Champion. He respected it, but he had enough melee weapons in his hand. The Necron's C'tan Phase Sword was already beyond that scope, and he still had the Warscythe he had not even used. Nolan muttered to himself, his gaze moving on. He blinked, ultimately choosing to give up the first option.

Then, Nolan's focus shifted to the second reward option. Telekinetic, pyrokinetic, and telepathic? No wonder Cacodominus in the simulation was so powerful. Composite psychic abilities far exceeding an ordinary Alpha-level psyker. Nolan bared his fangs slightly, a reflexive, wolfish gesture, and his eyes narrowed. The power was tempting, but the cost was too high.

He skipped the second reward option as well. He did not use psychic powers, and the note about long-term possession increasing hatred for the Imperium was a deal-breaker. While it was not Chaos corruption, it was almost the same. I'm not afraid, he thought, but other people in the base might not be able to resist it.

Frowning slightly, Nolan took a deep breath, the last of his concerns fading. He squinted at the third reward. Then, his eyes fixed on a small detail. The prototype enveloped by the stasis field? A new thought struck him. If I extract it, will I simply get the Crusader Land Raider? Or will I get it with the stasis field? He reread the line. If even the stasis field can be extracted, does this count as a free bonus? Nolan blinked his eyes quickly, a spark of anticipation lighting his features. He subconsciously licked his dry lips. A slight, almost predatory excitement grew in his heart. Anything that could be "gotten for free" from the simulator aroused his keen interest.

So, Nolan quickly stood up, his chair scraping softly, and walked out of the lounge.

The brightly lit base hall was quiet. At this time, only the low-profile automatic servo robots were shuttling back and forth, their wheels whirring faintly on the deck plates. He glanced around. Neither Servo-Skull Reditus nor David was present. Nolan listened carefully for the telltale hum of Reditus's engine or David's footsteps. Hearing nothing, he made sure no one was coming. He turned back to the nearest console, his mind made up, and chose the third reward without hesitation.

The next second, a deafening, echoing sound of metal colliding with metal tore through the hall. The very floor beneath his feet shuddered.

A Land Raider, about four meters high, six meters wide, and more than ten meters long, had materialized in front of Nolan. The massive black tank appeared instantly, still resting on its stasis field platform base. The base itself was emitting a low, powerful hum as it slammed heavily onto the metal floor.

Immediately afterward, the stasis field, a shimmering, watery bubble over the tank, flickered. Having lost its external energy supply, it seemed to undergo a strange change, its surface constantly refracting the hall's lights into wild, chaotic patterns. Finally, it slowly faded away like mist and lost its effect.

"Haha! Success! I got it for free!"

Nolan shouted excitedly, the sound echoing in the suddenly-crowded hall. He suddenly raised his sturdy arms and waved them vigorously in triumph.

Buzz, buzz, buzz...

At that exact moment, accompanied by the low, insistent hum of anti-gravity engines, Servo-Skull Reditus led a team of automatic servo robots quickly out of the underground passage, zipping into the base hall.

"Where is that sound coming from... Ah! Machine God! A Land Raider! My dear Land Raider!"

Reditus, who had originally planned to investigate the crash, saw the Land Raider almost at a glance. Its mechanical voice pitched up into an ecstatic screech. It quickly opened its small mechanical clamps, as if to embrace the machine, and flew frantically toward the huge metal shell. It pressed its metal skull against the cold, black armor, making intoxicated, whirring sounds of pure adoration.

"Lord Primarch! Is this a war express sent to you by the Emperor? Are we going to carry out a great conquest?"

The next moment, Reditus zipped back, its red optical light flashing in its eye sockets. It instantly stared at Nolan. Its mechanical voice suddenly sounded almost murderous with anticipation.

Hearing the servo-skull's question, the bright smile on Nolan's face froze slightly. He had been caught. But he did not raise any objection to Reditus's assumption.

"Reditus, we need to wait patiently for the opportunity." Nolan said, his voice regaining its calm. "This Land Raider is just a small gift, and it is also a reward from the Emperor for your hard work during this period."

"Ah! Omnissiah! Machine God! The Emperor really still remembers me, his loyal servant!" Reditus shrieked, its voice cracking with static-filled joy as it began to circle the Land Raider, its optical light lovingly scanning every armor plate.
