Tech-Priest Reditus's words certainly made sense; logistics were the backbone of any war effort, even a clandestine one. So, after Nolan decisively threatened the other party, he immediately notified David. The three of them planned to meet and hold a short, necessary roundtable meeting.
Nolan had his own considerations on combat matters and strategy, but he still needed advice from David and Reditus on matters like bases, equipment, and logistics.
The roundtable meeting was successfully held again for the umpteenth time, but it quickly devolved. Nolan remained silent, his massive frame settled in his chair. He just kept eating the large amount of food placed in front of him, letting his allies argue. Reditus and David had a verbal battle with each other, their differing approaches clashing loudly. It almost escalated to the point of a physical fight.
Finally, when the exasperated Reditus turned out its miniaturized laspistol, and David, who merely sneered, simply pinched the bony chin of the servo-skull with his metal hand, Nolan personally stepped in to end the dangerous dispute between the two sides.
The agreement was settled: David would use the law firm to legally acquire some local material manufacturers that were about to go bankrupt, securing a reliable source of raw materials. Reditus was responsible for coming up with the basic formulas for plasteel and ceramite. Some simple, preliminary manufacturing steps could be solved by the acquired businesses with the reasonable use of financial resources. The complex and confidential parts of the construction would need to be transported back to the base for completion. David would also restart the construction plan, helping Reditus build an essential foundry underground. This would at least make it more convenient to build a copycat Terminator or repair large vehicles.
David and Reditus agreed this was a reasonable and necessary compromise. The war between the two sides was temporarily declared over.
So, the whole base gradually became lively. Except for Connors, who remained devoted to studying Compound V in the laboratory, everyone was now busy with construction and logistics. Even Nolan and Jessica had to become contractors, hauling materials. They started to help David carry the ordered construction materials, their muscle power replacing machinery.
During this period, Man of Iron David, who was always monitoring the outside world, reported some pressing situations to Nolan. Maybe it was because Nolan had alerted the enemy last time, but both S.H.I.E.L.D and Hydra launched intense retaliatory actions against each other.
The two sides started a widespread city war in the guise of international mercenaries competing for interests. Among them, the situation in South America and Europe seemed to be the most tragic. Especially in some Eastern European countries, Hydra (disguised as mercenaries) and S.H.I.E.L.D agents (disguised as mercenaries) completely disregarded the lives of civilians. They even had fierce gun battles on the streets, causing a large number of civilian casualties.
Iron Man, Tony Stark, did get involved in several battles, but he only managed to save some civilians and could not stop the overall development of the situation. He also received severe difficulties from official forces. The congressmen controlled by Hydra and the congressmen behind S.H.I.E.L.D actually joined forces. From the official level, they launched a censure investigation against Iron Man, accusing the superhero of intervening in other countries' internal affairs without authorization.
After listening to David's simple report, Nolan narrowed his cyan wolf eyes slightly. He pondered for a while and then told David with a sneer: "After investigating some of Hydra's secret bases and personnel information, immediately send it to S.H.I.E.L.D, and treat S.H.I.E.L.D the same way." Unless David accidentally found the leader of Hydra or an extremely important main base, Nolan would not bother to take direct action. David quite agreed with this strategy of escalating chaos. He turned around and continued to add fuel to the fire between the two sides through the Internet.
Not long after, Nolan, who was still busy carrying heavy beams, was stopped by the servo-skull Reditus. It kept hovering around him, instilling the need for more help, complaining incessantly about the labor shortage.
In the end, Nolan, harassed by the trash talk and thoroughly annoyed, held a round table meeting again. Reditus carefully made a suggestion to everyone. It could temporarily produce a batch of automatic servo robots, specially used for logistics support, with the local materials they were currently acquiring. In this way, the emergence of servo robots would liberate everyone's labor. At least Nolan, as a distinguished Primarch, could read and watch the show with peace of mind, waiting for the fermentation of things outside. Jessica would not have to interrupt her training to live the life of a contractor, covered in dust, every day.
For a moment, the entire metal round table seemed to fall into an eerie silence as everyone considered the proposal. Then, Jessica raised her hand cautiously. She first agreed with Reditus's plan, acknowledging her own exhaustion. David, with blue light flashing in his eyes, also shook his metal head and told Nolan his ideas. As the team's plans gradually increased, they really needed more manpower to help. Untested humans could not enter the confidential base, but the mechanical creations from the Mechanicus, controlled by Reditus, could be trusted.
Finally, Nolan, expressionless, slightly bared his fangs. He agreed with Reditus's robot plan. However, he also repeatedly emphasized: the automatic servo robots did not need AI, nor did they need any weapons for the time being. If Reditus violated any of these conditions, all its future proposals would be completely rejected.
A few days later, an automatic servo robot, about 1.5 meters tall, with several mechanical limbs and mechanical tentacles hanging below its body, appeared in front of Nolan's eyes. Its metal shell was shaped distinctly like a tortoise shell.
He narrowed his cyan wolf eyes, carefully looking at this mechanical creation made entirely of ordinary materials. The grinning Nolan turned to Reditus floating beside him and asked slowly: "Reditus... why do I feel like some parts of this thing look like a Necron Scarab?"
"Oh! As expected of the noble Primarch! He actually saw through my design ideas at a glance! Praise the Machine God! Are you interested in learning the knowledge of the Order? Believe me, Lord Primarch, similar tutorials are not difficult at all..." Red light flashed rapidly in the eyes of Servo-skull Reditus. It jumped up and down excitedly, trying to persuade Nolan.
"Although I died at the hands of the Necrons, I have to admit that the technological level of those skeletons can be called a miracle of the Omnissiah..." Reditus carefully looked at Nolan's face. After finding that the other party showed no signs of displeasure, it continued: "I just used ordinary materials to imitate part of the shape. The internal structure and ideas are still the ancient technology of the Mechanicus... However, in addition to repairing and transporting goods, it also has an additional function. As long as it has metal material, it can quickly copy its own structure and build another automatic servo robot."
"Of course, in order to prevent these things from accidentally getting out of control one day... even if there are endless materials, their number will only be limited to thirteen. Lord Primarch, I am loyal to the Emperor and to you!"
At this moment, Nolan, blinking his cyan wolf eyes, smiled slightly. He slowly retracted the plasma pistol in his palm, acknowledging the servant's loyalty and ingenuity.
"It's just a joke... Reditus, I allow you to copy no more than fifty automatic servo robots to speed up the design and construction of the large ultra-high temperature furnace."
"I can't wait for the copycat version of the Terminator Power Armor."
