Chapter 29 - A Lost

Me and Jaylon sit in defeat. A war that destroyed the spirits of the most outstanding soldiers. The ball rolls towards Jaylon and the scoreboard's light shines behind the defeated king. Too afraid to look back and face his defeat, he looks for a reason. "I'll give you the answer." Valeri stares down at the defeated king and me. "It's because your reasons are shallow." He walked away without turning back.

Yoichi stands in the silence of the abyss. His light no longer shines for anybody. The miserable hate to see people unaffected by what brought them despair. Jaylon grabs him and yells at him with frustration. "Why didn't you shoot the ball? YOU WERE WIDE OPEN! WHY DIDN'T YOU SHOOT! HE WOULDN'T HAVE WON IF IT WASN'T FOR YOU!"

Yoichi stared at him, lifeless. Jaylon pushes Yoichi to the ground. "Failure." Yoichi looks up. "All I did was try to help you and Sakura get goals." But Jaylon wasn't satisfied, instead it frustrates him more. Jaylon quiets down and looks down at the pathetic excuse of a player in front of him. He says one word that shatters Yoichi completely. "Coward."

Arthur walks up to me and tells me that I lost alongside him. I stare at him with a blank look. "Because you.." "Yea I get what you mean." I stand up and grab Arthur's hand. "Remember that feeling of playing soccer for your own benefit. Yes, soccer might be a job but it's still a game at the end of the day." Arthur smiles and pats me on the head. "You should take your own advice."

Loki walks up to Arthur, his head down. "EVERYONE!" I turn my head and look at the coach. We walked up to the coach. "Good teamwork, I want to see that every ga-" "NO, never again." Jaylon said as he bit his lip. I looked at Jaylon, my eyes unchanging. "He used me for his plan. Even though it failed I'm no one's pawn. I want more than that. I don't need any hand outs. If I have to struggle for what I desire then I will do that. I will no longer be making contracts with these devils."

Ray suddenly hugs me. "Sakura! I have so many plays that would fit your current playstyle. We're gonna talk and talk and talk. ALL NIGHT, ME, YOU, AND THESE PLAYS!" She screamed out. "Practice is on Monday. Jaylon, you'll have to learn how to play with Sakura if you want to play." The coach said as Jaylon lowered his head. The tension in the air was almost thick enough to suffocate us. But the coach knew how to destroy it with a smile he screamed out. "EVERYONE ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!" Everyone screamed with excitement but me, Jaylon, and Yoichi.

I've learned how to use others to satisfy my own needs. Destroying my old playstyle and recreating it into a playstyle that fits my environment, yet still helps me stay true to myself. It's so amazing. But at the same time I feel like I'm not myself. It's as if I'm playing for something other than myself. That doesn't matter. All that matters is saving my father. If it means winning, the least I could do is get rid of myself and push forward as a new person. I looked at Yoichi with fire burning in my eyes. "But this fate is hard to bear."
