Kabuto watched Naruto closely, easing back two steps to take in the half-formed Rasengan.
"He might be even more interesting than Uchiha Sasuke."
Naruto stared the illusions down, raised his right hand with the swirling sphere, and hooked his left finger in a taunt.
"Don't you look down on me, brat!" One of the real bodies snarled. The danger pouring off Naruto's hand made his skin crawl. A single hit and he'd be crippled.
That flicker of fear made the illusion waver.
"Now!" Sasuke snapped his eyes open. Sharingan flared crimson. "Naruto! Northwest bush!"
"Got it."
Naruto and his clone charged through the illusions, absorbing slashes as they shoved the Rasengan forward. The vortex shredded debris and outright erased several phantoms.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
Kunai screamed toward Naruto. Sakura knocked them aside with shuriken after shuriken, clearing his lane. At the same time, she began condensing chakra into her fist.
Once Sasuke locked their position and Naruto forced their retreat, Sakura surged to the front to cut off their escape route.
"You think you've got us? Then watch our jutsu!" the three enemies shouted, forming seals in a panic just in time.
"Ninja Art: Waterfall Clone!"
Instantly, the area swarmed with their clones. Sakura's punch detonated a tree trunk, but the clones were untouched. Naruto's wind-like chakra did nothing either.
These weren't physical clones at all—more like illusionary bodies that mimicked Shadow Clones.
Team Seven withdrew.
Naruto barked to Sasuke, "Sharingan! Find the real one!"
Sasuke re-opened his eyes, but the curse mark pain spiked. He dropped to one knee.
"Ghh… the real bodies aren't among these clones!" he yelled.
Kabuto adjusted his glasses and began shielding them—batting away the kunai that flew from hidden angles.
"Haruno Sakura. Theory top-tier. Practical average. No special bloodline. Yet she's using monstrous strength and outrageous combat sense…"
Kabuto's surprise sharpened. Team Seven had two monsters besides Sasuke. At this point, their combat power was well past genin.
He filed every detail away for Orochimaru.
"Another Heaven scroll. What do we do?" Sakura searched the bodies and looked to Naruto.
"Burn it," Naruto said flatly.
Kabuto smiled. "Not saving it for other rookies? Your classmates?"
"No need." Naruto met his eyes calmly. "If they can't pass the second round on their own, they have no business in the third."
"Right, senpai?"
Kabuto's smile held. "You talk like a veteran. Not like a junior at all."
Sakura lit the scroll with a match, tossed it into the fire, then cheerfully knocked the three prisoners unconscious one by one.
Kabuto's eyelid jumped.
This girl is mercilessly efficient…
"Oh, by the way," Naruto asked casually while packing up, "did you see any Sound ninja on the way?"
"Huh? I hope not." Kabuto gave a bitter laugh. "Their abilities are nasty. If I ran into them, I probably wouldn't have cleared round two."
He sounded utterly sincere.
"Kabuto, what took you so long? We've been waiting."
Two masked figures stepped out and glanced Team Seven over.
"Sorry. Things came up." Kabuto looked relieved. Then to Naruto: "We'll part ways here. Good luck with the rest, okay?"
"Yeah."
Once they left, Sakura edged closer and whispered, "She didn't show?"
She meant the transmigrator.
Naruto's face was grave.
"She did."
