Chapter 79 - Chapter 79 Teaching Little Sun Step by Step

"The Hermit" Odis replied, "Indeed, I have five pages of a diary."

He squeezed every last drop of value out of those five pages of diary. First, he read them himself, which gave him a good direction for playing the role of the "fighting scholar."

Secondly, they submitted a report to "Mechanical Heart" and falsely reported expenses.

Offering sacrifices to "fools" now is simply making use of waste.

Odis addressed the head of the bronze table: "Mr. Fool, I am willing to offer you those five pages of the diary as a sacrifice in gratitude for the help you have provided before."

"I know it's nothing compared to the help you've provided, but it at least represents my sentiments."

Klein, the "Fool" behind the gray fog, thought to himself: This guy is pretty savvy.

He slowly nodded and said, "Okay."

"Justice" Audrey noticed that Mr. Fool had previously offered help to "The Hermit," but she didn't know what kind of help it was.

"The Magician" Fors thought of the Fool's help to him: Could the "Hermit" also have some kind of curse or something?

"I can materialize those five pages of the diary right now," Odis added.

The other members were taken aback again, after all, those were unfamiliar characters that were difficult to remember.

The "Hermit" had obviously only just learned that Russell's Notebook was Russell's Diary, and it was impossible that he had made an effort to memorize it before attending the meeting.

So that means the "hermit" was something I remembered before.

But soon, everyone guessed that this was probably due to the extraordinary abilities of the "hermit," and they all suppressed their slight surprise.

Klein nodded slightly and materialized paper and pen for Odis, allowing him to "express" himself.

After another ten minutes or so of reading time, "The Fool" Klein said calmly, "You may begin."

Alger the Hanged Man immediately turned around and asked Derrick the Sun, "What information did you get from the former captain of that exploration team?"

Derrick answered honestly, "He's dead."

Dead?

Audrey and Fors both showed their surprise.

Derrick continued, "After the last gathering ended, I returned to Silver City..."

He briefly recounted what happened to him after the gathering last Monday.

Alger then asked, "Your Silver City's dungeons for the out-of-control are not sealed? Are there no barriers between them?"

"Yes," Derrick said, "but for some reason, he came into my room and completely lost control, turning into a terrifying monster."

Fors realized another question: "So how did you survive?"

This was also a concern for Audrey.

Alger's reaction was completely different from theirs: "It doesn't make sense to put someone like you, who is only showing signs of losing control, next to such a dangerous guy."

"It seems that the higher-ups in your Silver City are consciously sending people to contact that guy to see if they can extract useful information from him and observe any changes."

"So, which elder saved you?"

Derrick said with genuine admiration, "Yes, just as you said, the 'Chief' appeared just in time and used a magical item to deal with the out-of-control monster."

Alger chuckled lightly: "That's obvious. Anyone with enough knowledge can easily deduce it."

Audrey thought to herself, slightly annoyed: I never expected that.

Then Alger asked, "The former captain of that exploration team hadn't lost control for decades, but suddenly did after you went back?"

Derrick said seriously, "I guessed two reasons. One is because I chose the 'Solar Path.' At the last gathering, the Hermit said that the Amon family are descendants of the ancient sun god."

"Another guess was that he realized Mr. Fool was trying to get me to the party. It turned out to be the latter."

Alger pressed further, "How was it proven?"

Derrick described it as true: "After Amon's clone was dealt with, I went home and began to pray to Mr. Fool..."

"Wait a minute," Alger interrupted "The Sun"'s narration, "You said you just experienced such a bizarre event, and then your 'Chief' sent you home? And as soon as you got home, you started praying to Mr. Fool?"

"Yes," Derrick replied blankly, still unaware of where the problem lay.

Alger looked at Mr. Fool and was relieved when he saw that Mr. Fool did not react: "In my experience, the 'Chief' is definitely secretly monitoring you, and you have undoubtedly exposed your problems."

"Don't doubt this. If even the 'Chief' wasn't careful, your Silver City wouldn't have been able to survive to this day in such a perilous environment."

Derrick's eyes widened: This...

Alger's expression relaxed slightly as he said, "However, you won't be in any danger for the time being. I estimate that the 'Chief' has only noticed your abnormality. Perhaps he only suspects that you have been 'parasitized' by Amon and doesn't know anything about the Tarot Society."

Derrick calmed down a bit and said honestly, "Back then, I was indeed 'parasitized' by Amon."

"What?" Alger almost jumped up from his seat and assumed a fighting stance.

Audrey and Fors tensed up immediately, while only "The World" and "The Hermit" Odis showed some surprise.

Derrick quickly added, "The Fool saw through Amon's plot and taught me a ritual through which He sent angels to purify Amon's clone, and I coughed up a strange little bug."

"An angel?" Alger asked in astonishment.

Audrey was also somewhat surprised: "The Sun" said that Mr. Fool had sent an angel?

Fors then recalled that Mr. Fool had previously sent angels to help him, thus deceiving the Abraham family's inquiries.

Odis showed no surprise, since the Fool had already sent his angels to help him once, and wore an expression that said, "I didn't expect you to be so surprised."

Klein observed the reactions of the crowd from behind the gray fog, and finally he discovered that the experienced "hermit," who seemed to possess a lot of occult knowledge, was actually the member who most firmly believed that I was a god.

That makes sense, Klein thought: the more you know, the easier it is to make enough associations, and the easier it is to believe the conclusions drawn from those associations.

While everyone was still in surprise, Odis suddenly asked "Little Sun": "After your 'Chief' dealt with Amon's clone, the 'Chief' must have asked you some questions, right?"

Derrick thought for a moment: "Yes."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Odis then asked, "What did your 'chief' ask at the time? How did you answer? Think back carefully."

Derrick thought for a moment before saying, "It's roughly like this: The 'Chief' first explained why he arranged for me to be next to the former captain of the exploration team."

Then the 'chief' asked me, 'Why do you think that captain suddenly changed? How do you feel that you are different from the others?'

I replied: Perhaps it is because my extraordinary path is different from others.

The "chief" then asked me: What were you doing in the room just now?

I replied: I'm sleeping.

Finally, the chief asked: "Before he mutated, did you notice anything unusual?"

I said: No.

Everyone recovered from the shock of the "angel". Apart from Alger, the other members did not understand why the "Hermit" asked such a question.

Odis sighed and said, "You aroused your 'chief's' suspicion the moment you answered the first question."

"Huh?" Derrick had no idea about this.

"I'm asking you," Odis analyzed, "at the last gathering you said that everyone in Silver City would receive a general education. "Did your general education include any knowledge related to Amon and the 'Sun' pathway?"

Derrick seemed to understand something: "No, nothing."

Audrey realized that "Little Sun" answered that way because he knew that Amon was a descendant of the ancient sun god, but he overlooked the fact that most people in Silver City had no way of obtaining this information.

Fors realized that the "Hermit" was helping the "Little Sun" review the situation.

Odis continued, "Your 'chief's' question is actually asking: Did you do anything special that provoked the other party?"

"So you should have said that I felt no different from anyone else, and I didn't know how he got into my room."

"This is to tell you, 'Chief,' that I didn't do anything special; the other party approached me first."

"This is crucial. The 'Chief' must know that the other side launched the attack first, and you didn't mention this in your subsequent answers."

Alger nodded, agreeing that "hermit" was a very good answer.

Derrick was somewhat stunned, not expecting that there were so many issues to be aware of in such a simple Q&A.

Then he realized that the "hermit's" analysis made a lot of sense, and that he had indeed not explained things clearly.

Odis continued, "Your 'chief' realized you didn't understand his question, so he simply asked you: What were you doing in the room just now?"

Even saying you're peeing is better than saying you're sleeping!

"You should say that your spirit senses danger and is therefore observing carefully."

"You said you were sleeping. First of all, that makes you look like an unqualified soldier. Secondly, it shows that danger was already approaching and you didn't realize it, which is obviously lying."

Alger nodded again, feeling that the "hermit's" answer pleased him.

Audrey felt as if she had learned something strange again, and after a moment's thought, she realized that this strange thing was: making lies sound so real.

Klein, behind the gray fog, smiled to himself and thought: Why does it feel like a "hermit" tutoring a "little sun"?

Derrick nodded at first, but then hesitated, "But...but..."

"But isn't that answer dishonest?" Odis asked with a smile.

Derrick nodded repeatedly.

"I must admit that honesty is a virtue," Odis said. "But in many cases, honesty without any bottom line, without considering the feelings of others, or without considering one's own circumstances and consequences, is a sign of immaturity."
