Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Big Business Worth 3000 Pounds

Odis had considered Bernadette's conclusion, but he immediately shook his head and smiled, "I don't think so."

As he spoke, he skillfully assembled the parts in the wooden box, saying, "The magic array in this extraordinary weapon needs to be carved using a bone knife made from the leg bone of a mutated flamingo."

"Each weapon requires three mutated flamingo leg bones, each weighing approximately 25 pounds."

"The engraved marks need to be filled with a paint made from 'magma pyroxene powder' and 'red crown herb powder', which will cost around 50 pounds."

According to Odis's description, the scattered parts in the wooden box were assembled into the shape of a revolver.

Its method of use is to infuse it with spiritual energy while pulling the trigger. Each bullet fired is like a fist-sized fireball, which, upon hitting the target, causes not only bullet damage but also extensive burns.

Even if it doesn't directly hit the target, being hit by the aftershock of the fireball can still burn the target.

He picked up the pistol, adjusted it, and continued, "These parts also need to be customized. Thanks to Backlund's advanced industry, even a foundry with a little skill can take on such orders."

"But because they are so small and require so few parts, the cost is also quite high, with each gun's parts costing around 10 pounds."

"The bullets also need to undergo special treatment. The metal is soaked in the blood of mutated flamingos, and the gunpowder is mixed with bone powder from magma monsters. Each bullet requires 12 sulphurs and will be scrapped if it is not used for two months."

"Based on this calculation, the initial cost of this gun is 135 pounds, not including my design and research costs, because the spirituality in the spiritual materials will dissipate after about a year, and then it will require about 80 pounds of 'maintenance' every year."

He paused and then said seriously, "The townhouse I currently live in only costs £35 for six months."

"An ordinary revolver costs only about 3 pounds on the black market in Backlund, and only about 1 pound 15 soula in the suburbs."

Odis shook his head: "By comparison, this extraordinary weapon is far too expensive."

"Well, even the prices I mentioned above are still because I own a herbal medicine shop and have access to cheap, high-grade spiritual materials."

"A weapon like this would sell for at least 500 pounds on the market!"

Odis concluded, "I don't think every Sequence 9 has that kind of financial resources. If I weren't doing some research, I'd rather buy a good revolver and practice my marksmanship seriously."

"What if someone invests in them?" Bernadette suddenly said. "For example, I could commission you to make 10 of these weapons and distribute them to 10 Sequence 9s who aren't very good at direct combat."

"This will give them a very useful attack method. If ten people... no, three people fire together, I believe it will be enough to take down a Sequence 8 quite easily."

Odis opened his mouth before saying, "You're really rich."

"That price..."

Odis held up three fingers: "300 pounds each, no lower."

The "mysterious queen" with beautiful eyes stared at Odis: "You just said the cost was only 135 pounds."

"As I just said, this doesn't include design fees, nor my labor costs." Odis shrugged. "You won't find this price anywhere else."

To be precise, it's not that we can't find the price, but rather that we can't find similar weapons.

Bernadette nodded: "Okay, but on one condition: you have to teach the people I send how to maintain their pistols and how to make bullets."

Then she pointed to Odis's coat, which he was wearing inside out: "And what's that?"

"This is also an application of magic arrays," Odis explained, "except that the material at the center of the array is an extraordinary material of even greater value."

"Moreover, there are many limitations to its use. For example, this coat can only be used once a week. If I use it a second time, I will directly turn into a spirit creature. It is far less convenient than a sealing artifact. However, the negative effects are basically borne by the magic circle."

Bernadette hummed in agreement; the coat was of no use to her. "Three days from now, I'll send someone to teach you how to maintain a pistol."

As she spoke, she walked out: "As for those ten revolvers, delivery within a month shouldn't be a problem, right?"

"No problem, but those who come to learn must also bring a deposit of 1,000 pounds." Odis quickly asked, "What if I encounter danger?"

"You don't need to worry about those two men in black," Bernadette said. "Besides, I will ensure your safety before the transaction, but after the transaction… I'm not your bodyguard anymore."

After saying this, she was surrounded by wings with illusory feathers. When the illusory wings dissipated, the "mysterious queen" also disappeared.

Odis sat behind the counter for a dozen seconds, stunned, before exclaiming, "Tonight was really exciting!"

Although Bernadette had her sights set on the extraordinary organization that wanted to capture Odis, and they were unlikely to bother him again, he did not let his guard down.

After turning off the gas lights in the herbalist's shop, Odis simply went out the back door, walked through a dimly lit alley, and arrived at the adjacent Velte Street.

After confirming that no one was following him, he quickly left and went to a secret hideout that he had prepared in advance.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

It was a run-down apartment building in the northern part of the West End. Odis rented a room on the second floor, which had a bedroom and a separate bathroom, and a semi-open kitchen facing outwards from the balcony.

The rent here is only 18 soles a month, less than £1.

After setting up warning bells on the balcony and at the door, Odis finally lay down on the slightly damp bed to rest.

I fell asleep while reflecting on the day's events.

After falling asleep, Odis had a strange dream in which he was walking in a space filled with gray and white mist. As he walked, a tall and mysterious castle appeared before him.

Because of Odis's experience of conducting research in dreams, he gradually regained some of his cognitive abilities.

He was puzzled. What kind of place was this castle? Judging from its appearance, it was no ordinary castle; it gave off a terrifying and eerie feeling.

The castle's two doors were tall and large, and were now tightly shut, as if no one had opened them for a long time.

Waaaaah~

Suddenly, the cries of wild beasts echoed from within the gray fog. Odis looked around warily, but the swirling gray fog obscured any visible creatures.

He instinctively reached for his gun, but found himself dressed very lightly and unarmed.

At this moment, Odis found himself becoming increasingly lucid, so he began to walk forward along the castle, looking for places where he could escape the wild beasts.

Waaaaah~

After taking only a few steps, a vicious dog appeared before Odis, its body covered in short fur and with long, thin hooves. Its mouth extended all the way to the back of its head, and dark red flames burned in its eye sockets as it stared intently at Odis.

Oddis immediately realized where the castle was, and he quickly knocked on the door: "Open the door! Your dog is about to bite! Open the door!"

More whimpering sounds came from around, as if the surrounding mist had been filled with Fugen's hounds.

That's right, these dogs are the Hounds of Fugen, and this castle is "Sefirah Castle"!
