Outside the gymnasium, Song Weisha stood in front of Bi Ge, forcing herself to look pitiful.
She explained over and over that everything had been Li Meiran's unilateral decision. That she was being pursued. That she hadn't betrayed him. That she was distressed too.
Bi Ge listened in silence.
Then he let out a cold laugh. "Song Weisha, stop explaining. I've already told my mother to go to the Song family today and break off the engagement. You can happily chase after your dream boy, that European duke."
Her face went blank.
This wasn't how it was supposed to go.
In her imagination, Bi Ge should have been furious, desperate, begging her not to leave. Two men fighting over her. That was how it should have been.
Not this.
"Bi Ge, that's not what I meant," she hurriedly said. "It was my grandmother's idea. I'll go back and talk to her. Don't be angry—"
"I'm not asking for your permission," Bi Ge cut in sharply. "I'm tired of playing this game."
He pushed past her.
