Chapter 29 - Back up

In the stadium, Butterfly made some distance between her and Eryon, readying her daggers.

"Alright big guy, let's do this."

Eryon roared once and with a determined stomp into the ground he quickly closed the distance between them, Butterfly parrying the attack only to be launched back.

That was too heavy!

Eryon followed with a swing from his sword, unleashing a wave of black mana to Butterfly.

She dodged the attack easily, deciding that the best approach for now was to run.

From a distance, she threw daggers in his direction without any effect. The mist of thick black mana melting them before it could reach him.

How should I even deal with him?

As Butterfly wondered, running around the stadium, a little purple flame came through the hole in the stadium,Irina. She burst forth like a comet of purple fire, turning the field into an inferno instantly.

"Irina, what are you doing here?"

Butterfly asked her as she landed next to her.

"Some unfinished business."

"Whatever the case, I am happy you are here."

Butterfly looked at the soccer field engulfed in purple flames with a sense of relief.

"This should be more than enough to eliminate him."

"Don't think it's that simple."

From the scorching heat of undying flames, a roar could be heard as he swung his sword through the flames.

"It can't be!" Butterfly said, shocked

"That monster's armor… nullifies magic."

Both stayed on the edge, Butterfly's daggers were inefficient against him while Irina's flame couldn't even touch him.

"So, do you have a plan?"

Irina didn't say anything at first, watching how Eryon walked out of her flames.

Is this still not enough…

"Irina…Irina?"

Butterfly called for Irina who seemed like she spaced out.

"We will stall for time until Sato gets here, then I should be able to burn that bastard down."

"Sounds good."

Both dashed in opposite directions, leaving Eryon confused as to which to go for.

Roaring again, he went for Butterfly, closing the distance quickly.

The ground trembling as walls emerged from the field in Eryon's way, smashing easily through every single one.

On the other side of the stadium Irina watched them closely, pinpointing the right spot for the walls.

Is she for real?

In front of Butterfly, little poles began to emerge as Eryon closed the distance more and more, with a swift step, jumping from one to another.

"I never imagined that you would use other magic than Undying Flame." Butterfly yelled to Irina.

"Do you think I am a genius for nothing?"

"No, but I find it very surprising that you would step on your pride like this."

"You better keep your eyes on that black knight." Irina said, not wanting to continue that conversation anymore.

Eryon charged through the pole Butterfly stayed on, making her land next on the stands.

Really now, even if you don't recognise it, that boy had an impact on you. The old Black Witch would never even ally with someone, even less support them in battle.

Butterfly stayed a second on the stands thinking before she dashed to dodge Eryon's attack.

Moments later Shigure and Sato arrived at the stadium, Megumi hiding behind a wall.

"Megumi!"

"Sato and… Dr. Shigure?" Megumi asked, a moment lingering by.

"You see, Dr. Shigure is The black Knight's exis."

"Huh?"

Hearing that Megumi was left speechless, looking from afar at the battle before returning to them.

"What should we do then, can't you command him to stop or something?"

"If it was that simple I would have done it already. In this state Eryon is unable to control himself at all."

"Then what can we do?"

"Exhaust his mana."

Both looked at him.

"What?"

"The best way to subdue him is to exhaust his mana. This is what he told me when I talked with him."

"I mean, it makes sense but," Sato took a peek at the battle.

The soccer field was destroyed, pieces of the walls conjured by Irina laying flat on the ground as craters from Eryon's heavy hits painted the scenery.

All of them still fighting, Irina making ways for Butterfly to escape his strikes.

"Is that even possible?"

"It should be…" Shigure said frustrated, guilty that he couldn't do more.

"I see, it's worth a shot then, but who…"

Megumi, without even finishing, saw Sato how he got out of the cover.

"Irina, Butterfly, try to exhaust his mana!" Sato yelled at them, his scream catching Eryon's attention.

"Sato."

"Tsk."

Eryon, having his eyes on him, prepared his sword, once again mana gathering in it.

"Get out of his way!" Butterfly yelled at Sato, but it was in vain, even if Sato tried to dodge at that point the wave of his strike would still have caught him.

"Huh."

The time seemed like it slowed down, face to face with Eryon who was now letting his sword down Sato was looking helpless.

Am I dead?

Each moment, the wave of mana grew, bigger, and bigger, as Eryon swung his greatsword, ready to unleash it.

Sato closed his eyes, bracing himself for the worst.
