Evening settled over Spectrum Academy like spilled ink.
Lanterns flickered across the garden paths, each flame glowing with a different hue. The air was calm — too calm, almost as if the Academy itself was holding its breath.
Lyra sat by his window, Lumi curled up in her lap. The little creature's fur shimmered faintly, like moonlight rippling on still water.
He traced the small feather it had given him earlier — the one that now pulsed softly, in rhythm with his heartbeat.
"You're quiet tonight," he whispered.
Lumi tilted its head, eyes glowing faint aqua. Then, without warning, it began to hum.
A single note — soft, haunting, beautiful.
It wasn't quite a sound, not entirely a vibration — more like something that entered the air and rewrote it.
Lyra froze. "...Lumi?"
The hum deepened.
Across the Academy, six crystals embedded in the domes began to shimmer — one gold, one crimson, one silver, one violet, one emerald, one teal.
The light from each dome reached upward, curving through the night like strands of glowing silk, all converging above the Academy's fountain courtyard.
Lyra stirred from her bed, eyes wide.
Draven felt his skin tingle with heat as faint embers danced across his fingertips.
Nyra's mirror on the table cracked, not breaking — but singing.
Eira woke to frost patterns glowing in the air like constellations.
Something was calling them.
Moments later, all six stood outside — drawn unconsciously toward the Old Aurora Garden, where the fountain shimmered brighter than ever before.
The air vibrated with a sound — no, a song.
Lumi hovered in the center of the fountain, its small body glowing brighter than the stars.
And then the melody began.
"The Familiar's Song" (Lumi's Lullaby)
Verse 1
Beneath the glass of endless skies,
I wake where colors sleep and rise.
A spark once lost, a hue once torn,
I sing to call what's yet reborn.
The students felt the air move — gentle wind brushing their faces.
The fountain's water floated upward, forming shimmering threads that danced like ribbons of light.
Chorus
Hear the hum, the light undone,
Threads of time begin to run.
Through fear and flame, through shade and sigh,
Our hearts will paint the fading sky.
Lyra felt warmth surge through her — the same warmth he'd felt when he first met Lumi.
He looked at his friends — their eyes all glowing faintly, their powers flickering in rhythm with the song.
🪽 Verse 2
I am the echo you can't erase,
The shimmer left in empty space.
Touch the light, don't turn away —
The night remembers what you say.
Lyra reached out, her light touching Draven's flame — instead of burning, the two merged into a warm golden-red glow.
Eira and Seren exchanged smiles as frost met reflection, forming crystalline petals that floated in the air.
Nox watched silently, his dark aura softening into deep indigo — a balance of shadow and calm.
Bridge
When silence falls, I'll find your sound,
When colors break, we'll stand our ground.
For every tear the stars have cried,
I'll glow for you — until they dry.
The song swelled — and the fountain's light burst upward, forming an enormous aurora that painted the night sky above the Academy.
For the first time in centuries, the sky shimmered with all six hues — gold, crimson, silver, violet, emerald, teal.
And somewhere deep beneath the Academy, in the sealed chamber known as the Vault, a faint pulse answered.
thrum… thrum… thrum…
🌈 Final Chorus (soft)
Hear the hum, the dawn begun,
Six hearts bound and now as one.
Through love and fear, through time's goodbye,
We'll bring the lost colors back to the sky.
Lumi's light faded gently.
The aurora above slowed, then dissolved into countless motes that fell like glowing snow.
The six students stood in silence, hearts racing, unable to explain what they'd just witnessed.
Finally, Vale whispered,
"Was that… us?"
Lyra nodded slowly. "No… it was something remembering us."
Far above, from the Headmistress's tower, Veyra Lys stood with Zief and Kaelith, watching the last lights fade.
Her expression was unreadable — part awe, part fear.
"It's begun," Zief murmured.
"The Familiar has sung," Kaelith said softly.
"And the Vault heard its name."
The Familiar has sung. And the Vault heard its name.
