The morning sun rose over a city that felt different, as if the air itself knew that the Stuar legacy was changing hands today. As agreed, Albert had arranged for two separate convoys. With a heavy, lingering gaze, Robert and Levis departed in opposite directions—Robert toward the Stuar Mansion to prepare for his coronation, and Levis toward Bright's estate.
Even though it was early, the street in front of Bright's house was already swarming with paparazzi and news vans. As Levis's car pulled up, the sound of shutters clicking was like a storm of hail against the windows.
"King Robert's fiancé is here!" someone shouted. "Mr. Levis! Look this way!"
Flashes blinded him as he stepped out. Levis kept his head down, ignoring the shouting crowd, and hurried inside where the heavy gates slammed shut behind him.
Inside, the house was a sanctuary of quiet. Bright stood in the foyer, already dressed in a sharp, charcoal-gray wedding suit. Stofia stood beside him, looking elegantly poised.
