Chapter 13 - Talisman crafting

After Sebastian took a few deep breaths in and out, for the sake of calming himself down and getting his body to become relaxed…

Feeling that he was ready, Sebastian took in and let out one last deep breath, then picked up the talisman brush that was on the table.

Looking at the talisman brush, it looked very similar to a calligraphy brush.

Right after picking up the talisman brush, Sebastian dipped the brush into a bright red color liquid mixture that was made from mixing the blood of magical beasts with various medicinal herbs.

With the brush dipped, Sebastian began transferring his fire energy into the brush, and soon after, upon sensing that the energy that was within the liquid mixture was becoming "alive", Sebastian immediately began to draw onto a talisman paper with the brush.

Without coming to a stop even once, one pattern after another pattern was drawn onto the talisman paper in succession.

And when roughly 10 minutes had passed, Sebastian had already managed to draw 15 patterns onto the talisman paper.

The moment Sebastian was done with drawing the 15th pattern onto the talisman paper, Sebastian set the talisman brush onto the side, then looked closely at the talisman paper.

After the 15th pattern was drawn onto the talisman paper, the 15 patterns that were drawn onto the talisman paper began to come alive.

As the 15 patterns came alive, the 15 patterns began wriggling, and soon after, the 15 patterns began dissolving and slowly forming into a symbol that resembles a fireball.

When Sebastian saw that a fireball symbol was formed on the talisman paper, Sebastian knew that his first attempt of the day at crafting a fireball talisman was successful, and a satisfied smile appeared on his face.

"Seems like lady luck has been on my side lately."

"Firstly, my system that had awakened seemed to be an overpowered gaming type of system."

"Secondly, I managed to marry a beautiful and virtuous wife."

"And now, thirdly, it's only my first attempt of the day, and I have already managed to successfully craft 1 fireball talisman."

"From what I remember, for a talisman crafter of my level, one session of talisman crafting usually lasts close to 1 hour."

"After 1 hour, it would usually mean I have worn out my mind and spiritual soul, and I would have to rest up for at least 6 hours before I can start another session of talisman crafting."

"During a session of talisman crafting, it usually meant I have 6 attempts at crafting fireball talismans."

"If I were to successfully craft at least 3 fireball talismans, it means that I have managed to successfully break even with the cost of the talisman crafting ingredients needed to begin a session of talisman crafting."

"And if I were to successfully craft 4 or more fireball talismans, it means that I would be at a profit."

"Although, technically speaking, since those talisman crafting ingredients are provided to me for free by the Lisandris Family, even if I managed to only craft 1 fireball talisman out of 6 attempts, I could still be counted to be at a profit."

Sebastian muttered to himself as he picked up the fireball talisman from the table and began inspecting it closely.

Right after he was done inspecting with the fireball talisman, he looked toward his system screen, then said in his own mind.

"System, switch to the stats tab."

Looking at the stats tab, Sebastian could see that there was a change to his talisman crafter's exp.

[Talisman crafter: Peak apprentice (+0.05, Exp: 450.05/500)]

From the looks of it, Sebastian gained 0.05 exp after he had successfully crafted a fireball talisman.

"If 1 successful craft equals to 0.05 exp, to obtain 50 exp, it's going to take me 1000 successful crafts."

"Realistically speaking, if I do not slack off, I should be able to do 3 sessions of talisman crafting per day, which equals to 18 attempts per day."

"With my current average success rate, it means I should be able to successfully craft at least 12 fireball talismans per day."

"12 successful crafts per day means that I will be able to gain 0.6 exp per day…"

"This means, it should take me about 84 days to be able to gain 50 exp, then break through and become an official talisman crafter!"

"This is so much faster than I expected!"

"Although, if I only need 84 days to gain 50 exp, how did the previous host manage to take 5 years to gain 350 exp…?"

After thinking about it for a short moment, Sebastian immediately realized why.

Firstly, unlike Sebastian who possessed a system and was able to clearly see the progresses of his stats…

Because the previous host was unaware of how long it would truly take for him to either break through and become an official talisman crafter, or reach level 3 of energy refining realm…

The previous host chose to juggle between cultivation and improving his talisman crafting skills.

Secondly, unlike Sebastian who had the Lisandris Family to provide him with a year's worth of talisman crafting ingredients for free…

The previous host had to spend time working to afford to be able to buy talisman crafting ingredients, especially during the first few years when the previous host's success rate at crafting a fireball talisman was less than 20%.

Placing the successfully crafted fireball talisman to the side, Sebastian picked up the talisman brush, then continued on with crafting the remaining fireball talismans.

After an hour was about to pass since Sebastian had begun his session of talisman crafting…

As Sebastian was done drawing the last pattern onto a talisman paper, he placed the talisman brush that he was holding in his right hand onto the table, then let out a deep breath.

Soon after, just like the first fireball talisman that he had crafted for the day…

The patterns that were on the talisman paper dissolved and formed into a fireball symbol, signifying that the fireball talisman was successfully crafted.

Upon seeing that, a smile appeared on Sebastian's face as he muttered to himself.

"5 success out of 6 attempts…"

"This is 1 more success compared to the previous host's success rate of 4 success out of 6 attempts, a pretty decent way to start my day off!"
