The universe had quieted.
The war was over.
The enemy beyond the Canopy no longer existed.
The races had grown.
The mythological gods had learned lessons they never expected.
And yet Kael Veyris remained calm. The gods approached again, slightly hesitant.
Zeus twirled a bolt of lightning nervously.
Athena adjusted her helmet, calculating.
Shiva twirled their multiple arms, grinning.
Odin leaned on a floating spear, curious.
Amaterasu radiated warmth but watched every detail.
Hera stayed poised, observing quietly.
Ares muttered under his breath, fidgeting.
Anubis was silent, every step measured.
Even these emanations, mighty as they were, felt small next to the Root.Kael sat among the Roots.
The races gathered in perfect formation.
Nyx hovered, amused.
Today Kael said softly we learn the subtle art of influence.
Zeus raised a bolt of lightning.
Kael tilted his head.
You could strike me, yes. But what would it accomplish.
Lightning fizzled politely, folding around reality itself.
Athena tried a complex strategy to trap Kael's attention.
He smiled faintly.
Clever. But unnecessary. Observation alone teaches more than enforcement ever could.
Ares stomped impatiently.
This is training.
Kael nodded.
Yes. Training the mind, not the fist. Even a god must learn patience.
Shiva laughed softly.
You teach gently… terrifyingly gently.
Kael nodded.
Gentle is often stronger than force.
Hermes zipped around Kael, trying to see if he could trick him.
Kael didn't move.
The wind itself politely ignored Hermes' antics.
Hermes stopped mid-air.
"…I feel… irrelevant?"
Kael sipped tea.
"Exactly. Sometimes, understanding irrelevance teaches more than success."
Nyx whispered to the races:
Lesson one: even gods can be humbled politely I could erase rewrite nullify.
I could bend all of existence with a thought.
But here, teaching mattered more.
Influence mattered more.
Patience mattered most.
The gods would leave changed.
The races would grow stronger.
Even the universe itself felt… more orderly.
The gods bowed not in fear, but in respect.
They would carry this lesson back to their Canopy.
The races whispered among themselves, ready for the next challenge.
Kael Veyris remained at the Roots.
Silent.
Calm.
Patient.
The Universe Tree rustled softly above him,
its leaves glowing faintly, as if smiling.
And somewhere, beyond the stars and realities,
Kael's quiet, endless influence continued.
The Root remained.
Unmoved.
Unchallenged.
Eternal.
