Chapter 19 - chapter 19

Sako Atsuhiro was beginning to wonder why he had never considered joining a Villain group before. Well that wasn't exactly true. He did know why he hadn't. Finding a group that had a proper cause that he could stand to side with for more than an hour had been a hard challenge to overcome. Of course, he had pulled jobs with other people before if for no other reason than to watch them crash and burn but this League…

Well they might be worth sticking around for. Not only did they have a cause worth helping with but they were also fun. And they weren't stupid.

Atsuhiro grinned lightly to himself as he tossed the marbles containing the other three members at the Hero convention up to the catwalk above the stage that their target would be on shortly before slipping into the seat the remaining Shigaraki sibling was holding open for him with his friends. The boy dressed as Sir Nighteye was practically vibrating in excitement. "Is everything ready?"

Atsuhiro nodded as he snapped his fingers to release the trio out of line of sight. "The actors are all in place and in costume."

The boy directly to the other side of the greenette, the one with bicolored hair and only in an All Might hoodie turned to look at him. "Oh, are you helping with the prank on my father?"

Atsuhiro gave the boy a relaxed smile before pulling out a handful of marbles for Sir Junior and the other boys to grab. "Prank? What prank? I am just here to enjoy the show like everyone else and I sure am not carrying around several marbles full of glitter to throw at him over the course of the day."

The lavender haired boy with bright yellow goggles up on his forehead a few seats down immediately grabbed a couple of the marbles. "Do you have to cancel your Quirk on them personally to use them?"

Atsuhiro held up his other hand in a so-so gesture as the two other boys closest to him and the boy dressed as Best Jeanist a few chairs down took the remaining marbles. "If you can break them, they will uncompress just fine. I'll of course know when you try to break them and can uncompress them from a good ways away. There is no limit on the time or range."

Shigaraki gave him an intrigued look at that. "Oh, can you sense where all of them are at all times then as well as what is inside them?" At Atsuhiro's nod the boy pulled a hand up to his face as a flood of mumbled words waterfall from his lips. "...tracking…safe…'Giri…"

"And we've lost him." The lavender haired boy smirked and shook his head. He gave both Atsuhiro and the boy between him and Shigaraki a reassuring look at their confusion. "Izu's mouth sometimes runs away from him when he is thinking hard about something."

Before they could chat more, the room rapidly quieted down as a handful of high ranking heroes walked up onto the stage. It was time for the show to begin.

Tomura grinned as he spotted All Might below them. "So, the number one hero decided to make some time to join the panel after all…" He turned to look at the pair hidden to either side of him. All three of them were in disguise though Dabi's and Himiko's were significantly more complete then his own. Tomura had changed from his normal hoodie and sweatpants combo to his villain costume made up of a long black coat and Quirk rated black shirt and pants. In addition, he had donned a white wig and covered himself in hands including one to hide his face. Both Dabi and his sister however were dressed as Mr. Compress, Himiko having drunk a decent enough amount of his blood to take his form. The only difference between the two being the slightly different heights, which masks they wore and Dabi's fingerless gloves so he could use his Quirk if need be.

The man in question had offered it as an option since this operation was going to happen in broad daylight unlike the other scheme that Tomura had pulled since Dabi had joined, given that his masks and outfit would cover the other man's scarring. It was the perfect opportunity to clear his civilian identity's name from being himself with him seated out in the open completely unmasked. So long as Himiko was careful to throw the marbles hard enough or in his line of sight, he could cancel his Quirk to create the illusion that she was actually himself. That way, she could join in the fun and never be at risk of getting into actual trouble since she couldn't afford to be caught in wake of her previous act of manslaughter. Honestly, the man's offered solution to that problem had been the main reason after Izuku stated the man had "good vibes" for Tomura to accept the man so quickly originally.

Himiko shifted to lean a little over the rail, humming lightly. "Oh, Hawks is here too! Is he a target too or are we going to try to not hit him?"

Dabi snorted. "He would probably find it funny if we hit him."

Tomura gave Dabi a curious look at his comment. "You have a history with him too? One to put him on the list?"

Dabi shook his head. "He is the HPSC's attack dog but I don't think he knows any better. He wasn't exactly the brightest kid when I last talked to him. He had a sense of humor though so he probably wouldn't be too upset if he became collateral damage while we hit the flaming trash pile. He'll take it better than Jeanist will at any rate."

Tomura pulled his gloves off and shoved them in his pants pocket with a nod. "So just the top two then. Ready?" At their nods, he slammed his hand down on the catwalk dropping them to the stage below and into view. "Sorry to just drop in but we have a bone to pick with a couple of you."

Tomura felt a grin tugging at his face as confused shouts started up behind them. Credit where credit was due, Best Jeanist was quick to activate his Quirk over the three of them to try and restrain them. "You are interrupting the panel."

Tomura allowed his fingers to brush over his coat holding him hostage, freeing himself and dropping the marbles to litter the stage. "My apologies, Best Jeanist but you are not one of our targets. The only two here we of the League of Villains have issue with are the numbers one and two. Mr. Compress if you would."

Beside him, he heard Himiko snap her fingers in time with the actual man hidden in the crowd as an explosion of glitter, glue and fire suppression foam erupted over the stage. The shock of everything flying through the air on stage, made the Hero's grip over Dabi and Himiko slip, allowing the pair to aim their marbles at the intended targets more accurately before the trio booked it from the room to the janitorial closet they had changed in earlier as the second round of marbles exploded.

Mirai nearly did a spit take as the top four ranked heroes returned to the backstage area. He had just finished his signings not long before their shared panel had been due to start so he had been expecting to be able to take a break in relative peace before going out to wander the convention himself. It had been decided weeks ago that he would stick around the convention until Shouta turned up to help with setting up his boyfriend's live broadcast panel like he had in the past. It was more for their peace of mind than anything. In all likelihood Tomura and his League were the only Villains here and even he had to admit they were hardly all that villainous. In hindsight, he really should have been more suspicious as to why Tomura had even wanted to come.

"What happened?"

Hawks sighed dramatically as he ruffled his feathers. "Some guys calling themselves the League of Villains crashed the panel. They managed to destroy the feathers I sent after them so hopefully someone else grabbed them before they left the con."

Endeavor snarled slightly as he snatched up a wad of napkins from the snack table to wipe the fire suppression foam from his face. "They wouldn't have gotten away if Jeanist hadn't slipped up."

Best Jeanist, who had come out of everything mostly unscathed outside of a bit of glitter in his hair and on his jeans and jacket, shrugged. "They might have called themselves Villains but they were merely pranksters. Older teens or college students looking to have a bit of fun that got a bit carried away in the roles they were playing. It is hardly the first time something like this has happened."

Mirai felt the corner of his mouth twitch as he fought off a grin. All Might gave him a knowing look. "You're not surprised. You knew this was going to happen?"

"I had a suspicion. This isn't the first stunt that the League of Villains has pulled, just their boldest. Pranks like this and minor property damage seem to be the worst that they seem to do so Eraserhead and I have been leaving them be for now."

That got a puzzled look from the numbers two and three that Hawks put a voice too. "What does Eraserhead have to do with this? I thought you guys covered completely different shifts and territory?"

Best Jeanist shook his head. "They do but given that Eraser is his younger brother, I imagine they exchange information on cases from time to time."

"We also share the same vigilante headache," Mirai offered. "My youngest nephew is Quirkless so has been taking advantage of the loophole in the law to train for UA's entrance exam next year. He is the one that has run into the group in the past, not Eraser or myself."

Hawks seemed to consider that for a moment before he snapped his fingers in apparent realization. "Oh! He's Loki right? I've heard a bit about him in passing. He is pretty popular with the people he has helped out. He's really Quirkless?"

Mirai nodded. "Not that it should really matter but yes."

Endeavor snorted. "It is foolish for you to humor him. A Quirkless kid stands no chance at becoming a real hero."

Mirai saw red when he saw All Might nod in agreement. "You realize that I am essentially Quirkless for 23 hours a day right? Hell, I don't even use my Quirk most of the time! Why the hell can't he become a proper Hero?" Mirai crumpled up his now empty water bottle and chucked it at All Might's head. "I still can't wrap my head around the fact that you of all people would think like this." Before he could say anything else stupid, he spun on his heel and stormed out onto the convention floor. He had a niece and nephews to check on.

Tsunagu was beginning to suspect the bad blood between Sir Nighteye and All Might ran even deeper than he had thought. The fact that the normally calm man had lashed out against his former partner so quickly when the other hero had merely nodded in agreement to Endeavor's inconsiderate comment when he clearly was capable of holding his tongue to comments of that sort from the other hero was jarring.

Hawks gave a low whistle next to him. "Damn, I knew the two of you were fighting but I was not expecting something like that. What the hell did you do to piss him off so much?"

"I made a mistake in how I handled a situation involving one of his nephews a few months ago. I incorrectly assumed that he had come away from the Villain attack he was caught up in unscaded with how he was acting at the time, unaware that his pain tolerance threshold was so high."

Tsunagu found himself leveling his gaze on the number one, feeling the embers of anger at what happened to one of his favorite fans. "Heroic neglect is still heroic neglect regardless how you explain it away to yourself All Might. If what Sir told me earlier is true you are lucky that your current position as the Symbol of Peace shields you from a conventional trial."

The Hero to his credit grimaced and nodded. "As much as it pains me to admit, I likely won't hold that title much longer."

Endeavor stared at the only Hero ranked higher than him in open shock. "You're just going to roll over and give up?"

All Might sighed before moving to lock the door to the back room. "I'm afraid I don't really have much choice in the matter." Steam poured off the man as he released his Quirk's apparent transformation. The man was practically unrecognizable in his state of poor health as he pulled at his now ill fitting costume to reveal a massive scar on his side. "About 5 years ago I fought a powerful Villain in a battle that nearly cost me my life. As it stands, the hours I can work are getting shorter and shorter as time passes. Whether I want to keep going or not is irrelevant. I need to retire before I completely lose my Quirk or else it would be as if I just suddenly evaporated into thin air."

Tsunagu stared at the man feeling rather ill. The living skeleton of a man clearly hadn't become this way overnight from just that injury. The man's refusal to consider retiring before now had done this. "This is the reason why the two of you were originally fighting. Sir said he had been trying to get you to retire for a few years now. This is the reason why."

When the man behind the face of All Might nodded. Endeavor spun on the spot and snarled as he lashed out to punch the wall. "This wasn't supposed to happen like this. I was supposed to fucking earn the number one spot. I was supposed to surpass you!"

As Tsunagu and All Might stared at the man in shock, Hawks let out a nervous chirp. As Tsunagu looked at the younger man it suddenly hit him just how much of a young man he was. Tsunagu was not stupid, he knew exactly how the poor kid was just being used by the Commission to push their agenda. If All Might stepped down, he would automatically take the spot of number two and that could easily mean that he was just one bad day away from being forced into the number one spot.

That was unless Endeavor didn't get bypassed completely.

Mirio had to do a double take as he spotted Sir Nighteye out of the corner of his eye. His mentor was seated at a gaming table with a handful of teens and one other clear adult playing what looked to be a tabletop roleplaying game that one teen with bright cyan hair seemed to be running. Except it wasn't just one of him. It took a moment for it to click that the slightly smaller version was Midoriya even having seen the pair together earlier at Sir's panel.

He turned and pointed in their direction. "Tamaki, do you want to try out the gaming tables? Sir and Midoriya are both at that one. Maybe we could join them?"

Tamaki, drowning in the Fat Gum hoodie he had been gifted by the hero himself at the end of his internship a few months prior, gave Mirio an anxious look. "Are you sure that is a good idea? We wouldn't want to interrupt their game."

Mirio gave him a reassuring pat on the back. "We don't have to try and play. We could just hang out."

Taking the reluctant nod as consent, he pulled his nervous friend over to the table. "Hey Sir! Midoriya! What are you guys playing?"

At the name Midoriya he was surprised that two more heads snapped to attention than expected, the guy running the table and the one girl, earning snickers from the heavily scared guy between those two and the lavender haired boy dressed as Aizawa-sensei that evidently was another one of Sir's nephews. The guy dressed as Best Jeanist scoffed. "What am I, chopped liver?"

"Oh! Sorry Bakugou! I didn't realize that was you! Your costume is so good!"

The blonde seemed to puff up in pride at the statement that instantly turned into annoyance as Midoriya spoke. "Kacchan, wasn't the whole reason you wanted to come in costume yourself so you didn't get recognized?"

A smile tugged at the corner of Sir's lips as he turned in his seat to greet them. "Hello Togata. Did you enjoy the panel earlier? I thought I spotted you in the crowd."

Mirio nodded. "It was both fun and informative! We aren't interrupting are we?"

The guy at the head of the table shook his head. "Nah, just going over rules and starting character creation right now. We are just going to run a one-shot to kill time until the 'Put Your Hands Up' panel. The two of you can pull up chairs if you want. Two more people won't really change things much with this many people."

Mirio grinned and pulled a few chairs over from another table. "Should we do introductions first?"

The guy shrugged which earned him a die thrown at him by Midoriya. "Don't be rude Tomura-nii." He turned back to grin at Mirio and Tamaki. "Sorry about my brother, he can be nice I promise." He gestured to the blonde girl next to him. "This is our sister Himiko." He pointed to the scarred man. "Himiko's friend Dabi, no family name. Across from them are Sako Atsuhiro, another friend of theirs, and my soon to be adopted cousin, Shinso Hitoshi. Finally, next to him are Iida Tenya and Todoroki Shoto in that order. Everyone, this is Togata Mirio and his friend Amajiki Tamaki."

Mirio found himself blinking in surprise. "You never mentioned you had siblings before."

Midoriya shrugged. "To be fair you never asked."

Mirio gave Sir a puzzled look. The man smiled and shrugged himself. "Out of my niece and nephews, only Izuku and Hitoshi are working towards heroics and like he said, Hitoshi is still in the process of being adopted. Tomura has partial ownership of a bar and Himiko is still figuring out what she wants to do herself."

Midoriya Tomura clapped his hands together to get everyone's attention. "As fun as all this is, we have a game to play."

Hizashi leaned back in his chair as the crowd below him waited for him to take them all on air. His was easily one of the biggest panels at this hero convention every year since he had started hosting his special yearly in person broadcast. It was always a pain to get everything set up and sound checked but he and Shouta had figured out how to get it set up quickly and correctly down to an art form.

Every year during the panel, he would not only do his normal Friday talk show but a few interviews with other Heroes at the convention. This year however would be a bit different. This year, he wasn't hosting alone.

Beside him on stage, Shouta was dozing in his chair in front of his mic as Izuku in full vigilante gear braided his uncle's hair with Hitoshi still dressed as a mini Eraser. The pair had attracted a bit of attention from the crowd if the fingers pointed at the trio of unexpected guests were anything to go by.

One minute until start, Hizashi leaned over to poke his boyfriend awake. "We're live in T-minus 30."

The man yawned and nodded before looking at the two boys to either side of him. "You two remember the rules?"

At twin nods from the boys, Hizashi shot them a thumbs up as he held up a hand to start the countdown. The crowd fell to a low rumble then as one, many in the crowd having years of practice joined him in the countdown. "5…4…3…2...YEEEAAAAHHHH! Everyone Put Your Hands Up!" He paused for a beat to let the mics in the crowd pick up their cheer. "That's right Listeners, it's that time for HeroCon! Present Mic here coming to you live from the Musutafu convention center for a bit of a different show tonight! Those of you who have tuned in in the past probably remember that normally I am a bit of a solo act but as I am sure that everyone here in person has already noticed that will not be the case tonight! If my fellow co-hosts for the evening would care to introduce themselves…"

Shouta rolled his eyes. "I still can't believe you talked me into this. I am an Underground Hero for a reason, Mic."

Izuku shot his uncle a grin. "Ah, don't be such a killjoy Eraserhead."

Hitoshi leaned forward with his own shit eating grin. "Yeah, don't be such a killjoy."

Shouta sighed. "I am already regretting this."

Izuku laughed. "Sorry, Eraser, you are just an easy target. Loki here! Some listeners out there might recognize me as Musutafu's newest vigilante. And before anyone out there worries about Mic, Eraser or anyone else here arresting me for it, as a Quirkless person I am helping out 100% legally."

"Unlike my vigilante friend, I don't have a fancy heroic name picked out for myself yet. You can all just call me Junior." He gave a wink in the direction of the crowd which earned him some laughs from those that had been at Sir Nighteye's panel earlier.

Hizashi chuckled at that. "I thought you would have come up with something better over the past week."

Hitoshi grinned. "Oh I did but then my cousin crashed our uncle's panel earlier and I was struck by inspiration."

Shouta groaned. "Of course he did. Why am I even surprised?"

Izuku shrugged. "No idea. At least he isn't the one trying to spread the rumors about the silly Secret Love Child thing that has been floating around like some people."

Hitoshi laughed. "Come on, you have to admit it's funny."

Hizashi laughed lightly at that. "For the sake of the listener's at home who have missed the drama, there have been rumors floating around online for the past few months that Sir Nighteye has a secret son."

Shouta snorted. "The whole thing is completely ridiculous."

Hizashi chuckled again. "As fun as this tangent has been, we should actually get on with the planned topics for tonight."

"Right, the plan." Izuku gave a frankly impressive evil laugh as he rubbed his hands together.

"It isn't that sort of plan Loki. Knock it off." Shouta leveled an exasperated look at the boy. Honestly as the broadcast devolved slowly into chaos, Hizashi was not sure why he was surprised. Not that he was complaining. This would go down in the history of the show as one of his favorite broadcasts.
