Chapter 91 - Magnetic Shield, Rain of Thunder Arrows

Zhou Yi inhaled deeply, kicking off the air behind him. A massive wave surged outwards the instant he exerted force, expanding nearly a hundred meters in an instant. Under this shocking shockwave, the clouds shattered, becoming a torrent of fragments that spread across the vast sky along with the impact.

For a moment, a huge vacuum appeared above Paris, accompanied by a hurricane-like howl and the faint dawn light beginning to seep through. The howling storm swept away all the cover in the sky, leaving only the original azure blue. It was like a dark blue gemstone, shimmering with dazzling brilliance.

It was rare to see such a pure sky in a modern city with a dense population. Normally, many people would stop and admire such a rare sight. But today, no one had the time. This man-made spectacle would only make ordinary people feel fear because the power displayed by the two sides in the battle had surpassed human levels, and humans had become like ants in front of them. When people realize their insignificance, they often feel this sense of fear. It was like a hand covering the sky, caressing a trembling ant's heart, leaving only lingering fear, no matter how gentle it was.

Zhou Yi had no mind to explore human fear; his attention was entirely focused on Magneto. A sense of shame lingered in his heart. All along, he had regarded himself as a god among humans, a hero favored by fate. He held himself in high regard; that was just a euphemism, especially for Zhou Yi. Sometimes, it could even be said to the point of being arrogant.

Magneto was very powerful; that was true. Zhou Yi had never underestimated Magneto. Just as he had said to Ororo and the others, he wasn't certain of victory. But deep down, he also believed that he would never fail. For Magneto, at most, it could only maintain a chance of neither winning nor losing.

However, the unfavorable start had severely wounded his self-esteem. Shame would only make someone like him explode with greater power; he held nothing back, unleashing his greatest speed.

The huge kinetic energy from the reaction force allowed him to easily increase his speed to the maximum. In just an instant, his speed had broken through the sound barrier, entering a super-high-speed state of twenty-five times the speed of sound.

The dark figure began to turn crimson in the pure sky, and the oppressive heat waves spread down from the sky, like the scorching sea breeze of summer, blowing into the city, directly letting people experience the oppressive heat of midsummer during this Christmas.

At this speed, the Earth's gravity and the air itself became obstacles to movement. When he moved, the kinetic energy generated by breaking through these obstacles was explosive. From the naked eye, all that could be discerned was endless flames enveloping a black figure, transforming into an arrow of fire in the sky, shooting towards the countless thunderstorms.

Thunder and flames intertwined, creating a spectacular scene in the air. Within this brilliant display, Zhou Yi once again collided with the incredibly resilient Magnetic Shield.

Flames spread across the shield, and countless electric snakes intertwined with the fiery body, causing strange sparks to erupt from the flames. At the center of the flames, Zhou Yi was engaged in a final struggle with the shield.

The earth truly began to rumble this time, and the ancient city erupted in a chorus of groans. Neat roads began to crack, revealing torn rock formations. All the buildings began to tremble; many held their ground, but some had already lost their footing and completely collapsed.

People were losing their footing because the ground beneath the city had begun to move, not of its own accord, but under the influence of a massive external force.

All of this was witnessed by the two combatants. Resisting the recoil from the shield, Zhou Yi stared at Magneto at the center of the shield and shouted.

"Magneto, what have you done?"

"Haven't you realized it yet, young man!" Magneto raised his hands, and with his movements, Zhou Yi clearly felt the earth moving in response. "I am using the power of the earth to counter your divine speed."

"Every living being is a massive magnetic field, and beings like you are no exception. Of course, the ground beneath our feet is the same. I've reviewed your file, young man, and frankly, you're astonishing. Supersonic movement, something I'd struggle to deal with if I weren't prepared. But now, I am prepared."

"Do you think I chose this place for no reason? It's not just the Magnetic Storm Coil, young man." Magneto stared at Zhou Yi, who was completely focused on his shield, and tapped his head. "I'm building a position. I realized long ago that the greatest power isn't in the body, but here. Intelligence is the most advantageous weapon. Do you think I would come unprepared to face a supersonic flyer? That's a bit naive."

The earth was still trembling. In this situation, Zhou Yi consciously slowed down his exertion of force. When he did so, the tremors noticeably lessened. Clearly, there was a definite connection between the two. Looking at the glowing shield in front of him, Zhou Yi immediately asked in amazement.

"Are you using the Geomagnetic Field of this place to defend against me? How is that possible!"

"Smart, although you figured it out a bit late!" Magneto clapped his hands and replied with a smile. "How is it not possible? I am the master of magnetism. When I set up the Magnetic Storm Coil, I had already infused my will into the earth, taking control of the geomagnetic field. What's in front of you now is the convergence point of all the magnetic fields in Paris. It's operating in a way that repels your own magnetic field, which means one thing."

"Unless you're prepared to sink this city, don't even think about getting close to me!" Magneto said the words Zhou Yi least wanted to hear, so his expression was already very grim when he heard them.

"That's right. And, there's more. Now is the time I stand undefeated, and the time you must face the test." With a gesture from Magneto, bringing his hands together, countless bolts of lightning gathered. The extremely high voltage coalesced into a giant ball of electricity, which was suspended above the Eiffel Tower. The blinding lightning was even more dazzling than the newly risen sun, as if a brand new sun was standing there.

And the moment he saw the lightning ball, Zhou Yi had already begun to fly away rapidly, but no matter how far he flew, it was not as fast as the speed of the lightning flashing in the air. A huge lightning bolt instantly split from the lightning ball and struck the tiny black figure in the blink of an eye.

The extremely high voltage instantly passed through the armor on Zhou Yi's body and into him. The nearly one hundred million volts had the power to vaporize most living organisms, and it did cause some damage to Zhou Yi. Under this voltage, his heart had some functional disturbances, and his nervous system was also partially damaged. However, this was not enough to make him lose his combat effectiveness.

His speed suddenly increased. Although it was still not as fast as lightning, nor could it compare to his own rapid speed, it was already beyond Magneto's perception, not just visual perception, but also his perception of the magnetic field. Magneto couldn't rely on his eyes to aim at such a high-speed ability; he relied on his perception of the biological magnetic field.

This perception was theoretically one hundred percent accurate, but it still had flaws. This flaw was the instant Magneto's thoughts were transmitted, from perception to issuing the attack command. This almost immeasurable time was his flaw. And this instant was enough for Zhou Yi to dodge his attacks.

The lightning giant snake darted around in the air. In the eyes of ordinary people, countless electric snakes seemed to be making random attacks, but only Magneto knew that he was attacking an enemy whose speed was beyond perception. All his attacks landed in empty space. Although he clearly sensed his presence, he always disappeared from his original location in the next instant.

This act of using a cannon to shoot at a mosquito was enough to make any shooter feel aggrieved. This was also true for Magneto, who considered himself intelligent.

"Are you planning to be a fly that runs away for the rest of your life?" Magneto, whose nearly a hundred lightning strikes had missed, used words to provoke him, hoping that the young man's impulsive hot blood would make him stop and take a couple of hits. But what answered him was an extremely dazzling heat ray.

Several streaks of lightning intertwined and met the dazzling light beam. Their properties as plasma made them start to compete and consume each other. The entire sky was filled with tiny flashes of lightning and flying sparks. Magneto took the opportunity to fire a few shots with his other hand at the heat ray, but he hit nothing.

"Young man, you are wasting both of our time!"

"Really? I think it's better than being a sitting duck!" Zhou Yi was never one to back down, even against Magneto.

"Damn it, didn't your father teach you to respect your elders?" The lightning never stopped, but it was useless if it couldn't hit its target.

"Unfortunately, my father left early. He didn't have time to teach me that." The voice came from all directions, making it difficult to pinpoint the target.

"Maybe we should sit down and talk, try a different approach to solve this."

"What, are you going to shut that turtle shell of yours and have a face-to-face match with me?"

That wasn't a good idea for Magneto. Without his Magnetic Shield, he had no chance of dodging the Dawn Knight's supersonic attacks. One hit, and with his body only slightly stronger than an ordinary person's, he'd be meeting his maker.

"That's not fair to me, young man." He fired a few more bolts of lightning, but this hit-or-miss approach was unlikely to be effective. "We should try a different approach."

"Like what?"

"I can change the target, and all you have to do is make sure he doesn't get hurt. Two chances. If you succeed, I'll admit I've failed this time." Magneto's face revealed a smile full of conspiracy, to which Zhou Yi expressed his attitude.

"Sounds like I'm at a disadvantage. Maybe we can try another approach."

"No need, young man. You will agree to my method." Magneto shifted his gaze in another direction, where the French military was already rushing towards them.

Magneto wore a very malicious smile, like a bandit watching his prey walk into a trap. He opened his arms. And with his movement, the lightning balls began to brew a more dense attack. After a few breaths, lightning had scattered across the sky. Lightning occupied almost all the space in the sky. In such a dense attack, unless one could achieve the high speed and agility of Zhou Yi, they could only face the lightning attack.

And obviously, the French army didn't have such conditions. So their fate was predictable. The fighter jets were directly shot down mid-air, and the armored forces on the ground also suffered quite a bit of lightning attacks. The power of thunder turned all organic life into charcoal. A large number of tanks crashed into each other. They had lost their operators. And some of the unlucky ones were directly detonated by the extremely high voltage. In just a moment, the French forces sent over had completely lost their combat effectiveness. And this was just a greeting for Magneto.

"We can continue to stalemate, but I can't guarantee how many humans will be affected. So, I think you don't have many choices, right?"
