Chapter 50 - Chapter 8 - The Vampire in the Box and The Table of Kings

Location: Occult Research Club - Sealed Room

Time: Two Days Before the Summit

The preparations for the Peace Summit were underway, but Rias Gremory had a domestic problem.

"I can't come out!" a shrill voice cried from behind a chained door sealed with paper talismans. "The outside world is scary! People will look at me!"

Rias sighed, massaging her temples. "Gasper, please. As a Bishop, your power is needed for security during the Summit."

"NO! I'll just die here! Leave me to rot!"

Raiden stood behind Rias, eating a bag of spicy potato chips. He looked at the door, then at Rias.

"Is there a delicious monster in there?" Raiden asked.

"It's Gasper Vladi," Rias explained. "A vampire-human hybrid. He possesses the Forbidden Balor View, the power to stop time. But he's a shut-in."

"Time stop?" Raiden swallowed his chips. "Interesting flavor."

Raiden stepped forward. He didn't knock. He didn't use magic to unlock the seal.

He placed his hand on the door.

"Gluttony."

The wood, the metal chains, and the magical seals warped. They didn't break; they were consumed, turning into blue particles that flowed into Raiden's palm.

The door vanished.

Inside, a small boy with blonde hair and a girls' school uniform (for some reason) was cowering in a coffin.

"Eeeek!" Gasper shrieked. "The door was eaten! You're a monster!"

Gasper's eyes glowed red. Panic triggered his Sacred Gear.

[Forbidden Balor View]

Everything in the room turned gray. Time stopped.

Rias, Akeno, and Issei were frozen in place.

Gasper peeked out of his coffin. "It stopped... now I can hide..."

"Hide where?"

Gasper froze. He looked up.

Raiden was moving. In a world of stopped time, Raiden was walking casually toward the coffin.

"H-How?!" Gasper squeaked. "Time is stopped!"

"I ate the time around me," Raiden explained, grabbing Gasper by the collar and hoisting him up like a kitten. "Time magic tastes like old cheese. A bit dry."

He shook the vampire.

"Listen, bat-boy. You're coming out. If you behave, I'll give you garlic-free pizza. If you don't, I'll put you in a jar and shake it."

Gasper looked at Raiden's void-like eyes and made a decision.

"I like pizza with extra cheese..."

[Gasper Vladi Recruited (Forcefully)]

Location: Kuoh Academy - Main Gate

Event: The Peace Summit

The day of the meeting arrived. The school was surrounded by barriers upon barriers.

Raiden arrived in a black limousine.

Ravel Phenex stepped out first, wearing a professional business suit tailored to her petite frame. She adjusted her glasses.

"Perimeter secure," Ravel muttered into a headset. "Raiden-sama, your tie is crooked." She reached up, fixing it with a blush.

"You're fussing too much, Manager," Raiden grunted.

"I am your handler! You represent the dignity of our... group!" Ravel hissed.

Irina Shidou hopped out next. She wasn't wearing her church robes anymore. She wore a modified combat outfit with a stylized emblem of a "Maw" (Raiden's crest) on the shoulder. She carried a new sword Raiden had pulled from his inventory (a demon blade).

"Raiden-sama! I sensed angels nearby. Shall I intercept?" Irina asked, her eyes fiercely loyal.

"Down, girl," Raiden patted her head. "We're here to talk, not bite. Yet."

Finally, Runeas Gremory exited the car.

She wore a black evening gown that seemed to absorb the light around her. Her presence was so heavy that the lesser devils guarding the gate fell to their knees instinctively.

"Shall we?" Runeas linked her arm with Raiden's. "Let's go scare the children."

The conference room was tense.

On one side: Sirzechs Lucifer and Serafall Leviathan.

On another: Michael and the Seraphim.

On the third: Azazel, the Governor General of Fallen Angels, lounging with his feet on the table.

The doors opened.

Runeas and Raiden walked in.

Sirzechs stood up immediately. "Runeas-neesama."

Azazel whistled. "Well, well. The Gremory ancestor wakes up from her nap. And who's the bodyguard?"

"I'm not a bodyguard," Raiden pulled out a chair—not at the table, but at the head of the room—and sat down. "I'm the food critic."

Azazel laughed. "I like this guy."

Michael looked at Irina, who was standing behind Raiden. His expression was pained.

"Irina... you stand with a Devil?"

Irina stepped forward, her face hard.

"I stand with Raiden. When my faith shattered, he was the reality that caught me. I have no quarrel with Heaven, Lord Michael, but my sword belongs to him."

Michael sighed, closing his eyes. "I see. The system is indeed... fractured."

The meeting commenced. They discussed the lack of God, the danger of the Khaos Brigade, and the need for a treaty.

Raiden was mostly silent, eating a bowl of grapes Serafall kept sneaking him.

"The White Dragon Emperor, Vali, has joined a terrorist group," Azazel admitted. "It's embarrassing."

"And the Old Satan Faction is moving," Sirzechs added. "They want to restore the old ways of chaos."

Runeas swirled her wine glass. "The old ways were boring. Just mindless slaughter. I prefer this era... the food is better." She glanced at Raiden.

Suddenly, the building shook.

"FREEZE!"

A wave of purple magic washed over the room.

Time stopped.

It was Gasper's power, but amplified to a massive degree. Everyone in the room - except the leaders - froze.

"We are under attack," Azazel stood up, his twelve black wings unfolding. "Magicians. A lot of them."

Outside the window, magic circles appeared in the sky. Hundreds of magicians teleported in.

"Terrorists," Sirzechs frowned, his aura flaring red. "They bypassed the barrier?"

"They used the Vampire boy as a catalyst to freeze our guards," Raiden noted, standing up. "Smart."

He walked to the window.

"So," Raiden cracked his knuckles. "Are we negotiating peace, or are we having a buffet?"

Azazel grinned, summoning a spear of light. "Why not both?"

Location: School Courtyard

Status: Time Frozen (mostly)

The magicians of the Khaos Brigade were confident. They had frozen the soldiers. They just had to bombard the building.

"Fire!" the leader shouted.

Hundreds of fireballs, lightning strikes, and demonic blasts hurtled toward the meeting room.

Shatter.

The window broke. A figure in a trench coat jumped out.

Raiden didn't dodge. He expanded his aura. It wasn't magic power; it was a vacuum.

[King of Gluttony: Banquet Hall]

The spells didn't hit him. They swirled around him like water going down a drain, sucked into his mouth, his skin, his very shadow.

"Thanks for the meal," Raiden bellowed, his voice shaking the ground.

He landed in the middle of the magician army.

"Now... who's dessert?"

What followed wasn't a battle. It was feeding time.

Raiden moved faster than the magicians could track. He didn't punch them; he consumed their barriers.

He grabbed a magician by the head.

"Mana Drain."

The magician shriveled up instantly, falling unconscious.

Irina leaped from the window, landing beside him.

"Amen!" she shouted, slashing with her demon sword, cutting through magical defenses like butter.

Ravel was on the roof, communicating via magic earpiece.

"Raiden-sama! Cluster of enemies at 3 o'clock! They are charging a large ritual spell!"

"Got it."

Raiden turned to the right. A group of fifty magicians was chanting.

Raiden took a deep breath. His chest expanded. He mixed the fire energy he ate earlier with the lightning he just consumed.

[Dragon Roar: Synthetic Breath]

He exhaled a beam of purple plasma.

It swept across the courtyard.

The fifty magicians were vaporized instantly. No trace left.

From the VIP room window, the leaders watched.

"Scary," Azazel muttered. "He processes energy with 100% efficiency. No waste. He's a living reactor."

"He is my masterpiece," Runeas said pridefully.

"He is my Raiden-chan!" Serafall cheered, waving pom-poms she materialized out of nowhere.

As the magicians fell, a new presence appeared in the room behind the leaders.

Katerea Leviathan. The descendant of the original Leviathan. She had been hiding, waiting for the chaos.

"Sirzechs! Serafall! Usurpers!" Katerea screamed, her body glowing with volatile power. "I will kill you all and restore the true Devil society!"

She raised her staff. A massive blast of demonic energy aimed at Serafall's back.

Serafall was distracted cheering for Raiden.

"Serafall!" Sirzechs shouted, moving to intercept.

But he was too slow.

THUD.

The blast didn't hit Serafall.

It hit a wall of black muscle.

Raiden had Phase-Shifted (a skill stolen from a stray devil earlier) back into the room. He stood between Serafall and Katerea. The blast hit his chest, singing his coat but doing zero damage.

Raiden looked down at the smoke rising from his chest.

"That was my favorite coat," Raiden said calmly. "Ravel picked it out for me."

Katerea's eyes widened. "You... took a Satan-class attack head-on?!"

Raiden grabbed Katerea's staff.

Crunch. He crushed it.

He then grabbed Katerea by the throat and lifted her off the ground.

"You interrupted my meal. You attacked my magical girl. And you ruined my outfit."

Raiden's eyes turned pitch black. The room grew cold. The "King of Gluttony" was truly angry for the first time.

"I think I'll eat your legacy first."

[Gluttony: Bloodline Extraction]

"AAAAAAHHHHHH!" Katerea screamed as her very lineage - the power of the original Leviathan - was ripped out of her soul.

Serafall watched, eyes wide, face blushing furiously.

"He... he protected me..."

Raiden tossed the depowered Katerea to the floor like a ragdoll.

He turned to the stunned room leaders.

"Anyone else want to interrupt?"

Silence.

"Good," Raiden brushed ash off his chest. "Now, where's that peace treaty? I have a dinner reservation with Runeas in an hour."
