Chapter 1 - A Single Unlucky Event.

'What was it again? What was I just thinking about?'

The rain hits the windshield. The car continues to drive forward.

This is Alto's first year at college. His family pestered him to come home for thanksgiving. He ended up agreeing though he kind of wanted to be alone. His grandpa drove all the way to grab him.

Driving through a mountain range could be considered dangerous. Especially in these conditions.

Continuing up the hill, able to see little forest thanks to the car's headlights.

'Ok, so time is relative, and if you're by more matter then does it go faster? No it goes the same, a second still remains a second. It's just a second there would be like a hundred seconds, though… wait do atom particles decay faster if they were by a black—'

A large truck crashes into the right side of the vehicle. Practically cutting it half and sending a part of the car off the cliff.

Miraculously both the truck driver and Alto's grandpa both survived the accident. Alto's body was never found.

—-

The night sky suddenly cleared. It was raining only a moment ago. Now stars accompanied the vast endless darkness.

—- was shaking, his whole body from his hands to his legs. He could hardly keep even his stomach in place. Everything just happened too fast. His mind was racing. Unable to form a single coherent thought.

He was lying down on a very large tree branch. There were smaller branches covering some of the night sky. Archie is yet to notice.

'Did I just die? Am I alive? Where? How?'

Worried that if he looks down at his body that he will truthfully be dead, he stares at the sky, not even paying the sky itself one of his single precious thoughts.

'Where's grandpa?'

That thought, was what snapped him out of whatever trance he was in. He could accept that he is dead as long as he knew no one else died.

Slowly turning his head, he saw a vast forest surrounding him. The tree's seemed a little big. The truly bizarre thing was, he couldn't find the mountain that he fell off of.

He hesitantly began looking at his body, very slowly. Unsurprisingly… wait no? Surprisingly he seemed completely unharmed.

Before he thought that he simply didn't feel pain because he was dead. Though nothing even seems broken? He was slow to begin moving. Eventually his hands stopped shaking.

Using one of his arms to prop himself up in a sitting position. He began looking around again once more. It was hard to put a finger on it. Though, something seemed off. The trees were too big. There was only a small hill to his west. No sign of the massive cliff. Or any signs of the call he was just in.

There wasn't a single sound either.

He wanted to call out for help, but something told him not to. Some strange feeling he had.

Not knowing what to do, he tried to start off with something easy and doable. The thought that came to mind was to simply find the moon. He checked the calendar and it should be a full moon tonight. That's probably the reason he could see so well at this time of night.

Looking around at the vast expanse of stars… and tree branches. It was kind of hard to see through them, he ended up repositioning himself on the massive tree branch. It was the size of a single lane on a road. Allowing him to simply walk across.

Finding an opening in the brush. He finally found it. Though something was wrong with it. Very, very wrong with it. Alto was stunned, as he stared at the bright blue moon… and a bright red one as well.

'Two? Since when were there two!'

The past was a strange thing. He started to think about it. You can't interact with it and the only way you could even know about it is through memories. Maybe, just maybe. There were always two moons. He just got hit on the head and forgot all of his memories relating to the second moon.

'Has to be that!'

It also explains why these trees are so big. They were always this big but he lost his memories relating to such things.

After feeling satisfied he put his head back with a sigh. Only to see a bright green move right above him.

'Three moons, there were three moons, three… whole moons. Why wouldn't there be? I mean two? Might as well throw a third one in there.'

A dim blue light shined somewhere to his right. He slowly looked down to see a blue panel. On the panel read 4 words.

{Welcome to Split}

'Split?'

Slightly down on the panel it read.

{Continue?}

Feeling somewhat reluctant, he pressed the button. The panel started loading, then it disappeared from sight.

Left standing in the moonlights. On top of a large tree, he began to ponder what he just saw.

'I probably just forgot about that too! Maybe it's an update! Wait, we have updates?'

The panel popped back up, shining with a dim blue hue. It read.

{Stats}

{Strength: 6}

{Speed: 10}

{Intelligence: 19}

{Stamina: 3}

{Charisma: 0}

{Abilities: None}

{Attributes: None}

'What? Did I get transported into another world? Naw, I just forgot about this too.'

It is strange though, the categories. There is more that goes into strength then simply being strong. For example, lifting strength and striking strength are completely different things. That really bothered —-

He ended up clicking on strength, the panel changed once again. This time instantaneously.

{Strength Average: 5.666}

{Lifting strength: 4}

{Striking strength: 7}

{Pulling Strength: 6}

'So I was right?'

It seemed as though strength itself was simply the average of different stats. It makes sense, one may pull something faster than they could lift it. Or someone only benching 81kg's may be able to punch harder than someone benching a hundred kilos.

Alto was curious to check his other stats. Before he could however, the world started to shift. Quite literally. The tree branch Alto was standing on and began to tilt. Slowly at first, then it continued. The entire forest for that matter followed along with it.

Quickly moving across the colossal branch like a very slow treadmill Alto looked up. To see the ground above him. Curiosity got the better of him, slowly looking over the branch. To where the ground was supposed to be!

Alto was stunned.

There was a vast ocean with shimmering moonlight below him.
