Chapter 17 - Dai Huabin's Envy

"I have some medicine here, I'll go get it and apply it to you later," Jiang Nannan said, putting down his clothes, feeling somewhat guilty.

"Let's talk about it later, I still need to work right now," Shi Yu said dismissively.

The two returned to the cafeteria to help serve the food.

Some of the onlookers left, while others went into the cafeteria to eat. When friends chatted, they talked about what had just happened.

The main discussion focuses on Shi Yu's abilities, which are unlike anything a Soul Master would expect.

After serving the food, washing the dishes, and cleaning the plates, it was time for Shi Yu's much-anticipated lunch break.

"How did you get better?" After finishing their meal, Jiang Nannan looked at Shi Yu's back again and found that the red marks had disappeared.

"Isn't it good that it's done?" Shi Yu asked with a smile.

"This is definitely good, but how could it get better so quickly?" Jiang Nannan asked in surprise.

"I consumed a special begonia flower before, which made my body's recovery ability stronger, so this kind of injury can heal quickly," Shi Yu explained simply.

"I see," Jiang Nannan said, still somewhat surprised.

"By the way, how did you manage to teleport so easily? Even a space-type martial soul would have a hard time doing that."

"So this means you can use the teleportation skill infinitely?" Jiang Nannan asked, her curiosity piqued.

"My martial soul is space, and my connection with space is extraordinary. I can teleport at will whenever I want," Shi Yu told Jiang Nannan what he could say, just as they were having a casual chat.

He naturally wouldn't say a word more than what he couldn't say, but he was well aware of the situation.

"With this martial spirit, you will definitely become a powerful soul master in the future," Jiang Nannan said sincerely.

"Then I'll take Nan Nan's kind words," Shi Yu said with a smile.

"Grandpa, have you eaten yet?" Shi Yu greeted Mu En casually at the dormitory entrance.

"Not yet," Mu En responded, his gaze falling on Shi Yu.

Feeling uneasy under Mu En's gaze, Shi Yu felt as if he had been seen through.

But on the surface, he smiled normally and said, "At your age, it's best to eat on time; don't ruin your health by starving yourself."

"Hmm," Moon replied casually.

Shi Yu parted ways with Jiang Nannan in the hallway, and did not see Dai Huabin after returning to the dormitory.

"I inexplicably offended Xu Sanshi, what a headache," Shi Yu said, rubbing his temples as he lay on the bed.

He didn't want to offend Xu Sanshi; after all, Xu Sanshi was part of the main cast, so why risk offending him?

But this person said some harsh things, and in his anger, he thought of provoking him in response, which resulted in this situation.

"I hope you won't cause trouble like those supporting characters, and that our feud won't escalate to a point where it's either you or me who dies," Shi Yu sighed.

In novels, it's not uncommon for minor grudges to escalate into major ones.

I haven't thought about it too much. I'll just take it one step at a time. There's no point in overthinking it now.

"It's really a bit boring." Shi Yu lay down for a while, not knowing what to do, so he simply sat up and started cultivating.

"You were the one who tricked a well-known Soul Master student from the upperclassmen at noon?"

Dai Huabin didn't return until evening. As soon as he got back, he stared at Shi Yu for a while and couldn't help but ask.

He overheard this while he and Zhu Lu were taking a walk. The description immediately reminded him of his roommate, who also possessed a spatial martial soul and was at level ten or so, which matched the description perfectly.

When cultivating, the fluctuations in soul power cannot be concealed, and one's level can be easily detected.

At this time, Shi Yu had finished working in the cafeteria, eaten dinner, and returned to his dormitory, where he was meditating cross-legged.

Upon hearing Dai Huabin's question, Shi Yu, just like last time, answered with his eyes closed: "It wasn't exactly playing around, just a close sparring match."

"It really is you?" Dai Huabin's gaze towards Shi Yu changed slightly.

"Then the eight spider legs on your back are the Eight Spider Spears?" Dai Huabin asked again.

"Why do you think that?" Shi Yu countered.

Since Dai Huabin would ask himself this question, he probably wasn't even there at the time. How could he guess the Eight Spider Lances based on the description?

"The eight spider legs behind him, and the fact that you asked about the eight spider spears earlier, made the connection."

"It really is the Eight Spider Spears. No wonder you asked about the Eight Spider Spears of the Sea God Ancestor."

"So it turns out he got incredibly lucky to obtain such an external soul bone," Dai Huabin said, his tone changing slightly.

It's like eating a sour lemon.

"Luck, luck!"

Shi Yu knew he couldn't deny it; after all, so many people were watching. If he denied it, wouldn't he be making Dai Huabin think he was a fool?

"How did you obtain it?" Dai Huabin asked curiously.

"That's a secret, and it's not convenient to talk about it," Shi Yu naturally couldn't elaborate.

He can let others know that he possesses the Eight Spider Lances Soul Bone, but he cannot let them know how he acquired it.

Dai Huabin hesitated, then continued cultivating on his own, secretly filled with envy for Shi Yu.

He wouldn't envy ordinary soul bones, as obtaining one wouldn't be difficult for someone with his family background.

As for obtaining an external soul bone, not only him, but even Shrek Academy couldn't guarantee it; it all depended on luck.

To be precise, it requires an extremely high level of luck; the probability is much lower than encountering a 100,000-year-old soul beast, and it's something that can only be encountered by chance.

He couldn't help but envy that kind of luck.

In the morning, Shi Yu, who wanted to sleep in, had to get up and wash up. Today was the first day of classes for new students, and being late would be bad.

Dai Huabin also got up to wash up.

The two had a casual relationship, didn't talk much, and went their separate ways after washing up.

"Good morning, Senior Nan Nan!" Shi Yu saw Jiang Nan Nan as soon as she came out of the cafeteria and ran up to greet her.

I took a bite of the steamed bun I bought and ate it with soy milk.

"Good morning," Jiang Nannan replied with a smile, eating her breakfast as she walked.

Beside her was Shi Yu's best friend, whom she had met before.

"Aren't you going to say hello to me?" The chubby-faced girl asserted her presence.

"Good morning to you too," Shi Yu greeted her.

"How perfunctory," the chubby-faced girl pouted.

"Why don't you buy steamed buns? Steamed bread is quite dry," Jiang Nannan asked casually.

"It's to save money. We're lucky to have steamed buns to eat now. In a few days, we might not even have any steamed buns left," Shi Yu said, taking another bite of the steamed bun.

"I can lend you some money first. You need to eat well in the morning, otherwise you might not have the energy to study," Jiang Nannan said, reaching for her money.

"No need for now. I'll ask the boss for an advance on my salary at noon. With my silver tongue, I should be able to get it," Shi Yu said, pressing Jiang Nannan's hand and shaking his head with a smile.

"You don't need to be so polite with me," Jiang Nannan said.

"I'm not being polite, I just felt it was really unnecessary. If it really doesn't work out, I'll come to you again," Shi Yu said casually.

Being short of money was a bit of a struggle, but it wasn't enough to make him feel inferior.

"Alright," Jiang Nannan said, and didn't insist any further.

"By the way, Senior Nan, is there anything I should pay attention to for my first class?" Shi Yu asked, taking a sip of soy milk.

"There's nothing special to pay attention to. Just be in the classroom on time, sit quietly, and listen," Jiang Nannan said.

The three of them walked together, and with Jiang Nannan's directions, Shi Yu found the classroom without any problems.

When he arrived, the classroom was already quite full. He casually found a seat at the back, as it had become a habit for him not to sit in the front row during class.

Sitting there, I idly observed the other people in the classroom. I saw my familiar roommate, Dai Huabin, sitting with a beautiful woman, who must be Zhu Lu.

Dai Huabin was the only one he knew, because he was his roommate.

As for the others, I don't know them. The only supporting characters with more screen time in the original story are Dai Huabin and Zhu Lu.

He and Dai Huabin shared a dormitory room and were in the same class, Class 5 of the freshmen.

The protagonist, Huo Yuhao, is in Class 1 of the freshmen, so it's impossible for him to be seen in that class.

You can't even see him from upstairs; he's usually downstairs, so bumping into him is pretty much a matter of luck.

He felt no emotion at being assigned to Class 5; he was not disappointed, nor did he necessarily want to be in the same class as Huo Yuhao.

He didn't even have much of an intention to befriend Huo Yuhao; there was no need for it.
