In the dark era, there was chaos and destruction. Humans had learnt how to harness the energy stored in their souls, the energy given to all by the supreme being in equal amounts in their soul. This energy was originally called BREATH OF LIFE, but later went by the name AURA.
Humans and their greed caused many national wars, destroying everything along the way in their pursuit of natural resources using the newly discovered enrgy and the researched ways of using it called SPELLS.
All this and more were the norm till humans entered a civilized era, but even civilization couldn't stop the misuse of aura. Public and underground battle arenas were put in place for death matches so humans could satisfy their bloodlust. It became a very popular sport, wealthy men, presidents and all kinds of influential people had a hand in it.
It was a lawless place with no rules until a great man known as Eric Grevor came along. Unknown to anyone else but himself, he was a transmigrator who came from a place called Earth.
Noticing that the sport was recognized and accepted widely by everyone, he decided to structure it like football, which was also the most popular sport on Earth. The only reason he was able to have such great influence to be able to do such an amazing thing is because unlike the rest of the people in this world, he contains an infinite amount of energy in his soul.
Domestic leagues were established in the five most powerful nations in the world called Aurea. He redefined the sport, calling itVIS, establishing laws, rules and regulation.
Intensive research had been done by humans over the years and they discovered the following;
- The stronger the physique the more aura you can access as it puts the body under a lot of pressure
- Spells can only be cast by channelling aura into the hands and then manifesting them in the form of fireballs, lightning strike, laser ray. The only kind of spell available with this limitation is single target attack spells and AoE spells which take longer casting times. This effectively made people to become humanoid canons.
- Humans have only one elemental affinity. The elements are ; fire, water, wind, earth, lightning, metal, ice, plant, light and darkness.
- Apart from spells, humans can channel their aura outside their bodies, convert it into a specific element and coat their bodies with it forming an elemental armor.
When Eric discovered this limitations and the ways in which aura was used in the one on one death matches in the bloody arenas, he decided to make some specific changes. He made it a 10v10 match, in this match the only thing that mattered was speed.
In a match between two clubs, 10 players from each club enters into a circle outlined by a ring of light. The two circles contain ten players each, the players are only allowed to move within the circle. Once the match begins, the ten players start firing projectile spells at each other with the objective of hitting an opponent and scoring a point.
The only way to avoid being hit was to dodge or defend by firing your own spell at the spell aimed at you.
Enhancing your physical attributes with your elemental armor, improving physique and practicing aura channeling and casting speed became the only way to survive in this sport. If you fall behind, the only thing that awaited you was death.
You would expect that with the level of brutality in Vis, people would hate it and call for it to be abolished. Haha, what a joke!! The people in this world absolutely loved it, players were one of the most wealthiest and popular people in the world. Combat is encouraged in this world where individuals have supernatural powers.
The government of the various countries in the world were also in support as it reduced international wars. The entire world was united by sport, but there was also a hidden agenda.
The population of the world was growing rapidly, resources were scarce. Eric and the government designed the game to attract people to their deaths.
But of course, they cannot be unruly in their acts. So with their rapid technological advancement which is futuristic compared to Earth, they developed vitalis( a fluid created by scientists for the purpose of healing all kinds of injuries by mitosis).
At the age of 14, children had two choices, join a Vis academy in order to become an AURALANCER ( a vis player), or go to high school to follow an educational path. At the age of eighteen players typically hope to be signed by big clubs, while other children go to college and then after graduating, picking a career.
Sixty percent of children follow the path to become an auralancer, because of the wealth, influence and fame associated with it.
