Unlike what Saphen had imagined about their future life, there were no thorns, no watching eyes.
He and Vorthax stayed on the mainland without encountering any restrictions or disturbances.
After two weeks, Saphen finally took Vorthax out to get his paperwork done. No matter what, he could not keep Vorthax hidden in the house forever.
Saphen stood on tiptoe and put a baseball cap on Vorthax's head, then found a pair of sunglasses and a mask and handed them to him.
Vorthax still looked foolish, as if he had no idea how these things were supposed to be used.
Thinking about it, Saphen realized it made sense. Vorthax probably really did not know how to use them.
"Follow me." As he spoke, he began putting the mask on himself.
Vorthax blinked, then suddenly lowered his head, smiling as he said, "Saphen, can you help me put it on?"
No one knew which switch had been flipped, but after those seven days had passed, Vorthax was no longer a monster who was easily shy.
