Saphen was known as a genius of acting. There was no expression, no emotion that he could not portray on screen.
Yet his personal life was famously dull. He had no hobbies. Even the thing he pursued, awards, was only to make his life more complete, to ensure that he would never again have to live in poverty or return to the dark days of his past.

Saphen had once teased Cain simply because he found Cain's reactions genuinely interesting. Of course, he did not deny that it was also because, in his eyes, Cain was nothing more than a character in some world.
A love storyline, perhaps, would appear on some page of writing. And teasing carried no consequences, as long as he enjoyed himself.
Right now, even his unwillingness to stay by Cain's side was only because he found it too boring. He wanted to leave once the job was done.
