"I need my phone! I need to make a call!" Clement shouted, his eyes catching the light as they flashed furiously, burning with desperation and fury while the policemen ushered his wife and daughter into the living room.
Because Filo had used a single cuff to restrain both women together, they kept stumbling into each other, their movements awkward and restricted—and the sight ripped painfully at something raw inside Clement's chest.
How could he stop this? How could he undo what was unfolding?
He shot a murderous glare at Caron when the officer ignored him entirely and instead gestured sharply for the other policemen to escort the women out of the house.
