Chapter 161 - A Promise

"Who was that?" Noah heard his father ask Arthur, watching Arthur's lips curl upward in visible disgust.

"Clement. Wanted to know why Esme was crying in the company earlier today…" 

Mason scoffed, crossing his legs with sharp irritation. They were in the large living room; Isaac had already returned to his quarters.

"That old cargo… I can't wait for what the Thornes have planned for them…" he cursed, shaking his legs furiously, restless and wound tight.

"I'm sure that Sabrina was the one that instigated our Esme into this nonsense…"

Noah didn't think so, but he kept quiet, choosing instead to ruminate on the events of the day.

He didn't like it—yet there had been no choice. 

Not when he had found that damning evidence showing that the Thornes knew his sister was behind the accident, or was at least one of the partners. 

That the Thornes were pretending ignorance because they were biding their time…
