"You are no sister of mine! You would have killed me and my fiancée!!"
Noah's voice thundered through Arthur's office, so loud that it seemed to Gianna the windows were trembling in their frames.
The sound carried raw fury, stripped of restraint. Albeit, she was pleased—with what she was seeing, what she was hearing, with how seriously Noah was taking it all.
"And you will spend so many years in jail! Mason, call the police!"
At the mention of police, Esme screamed, her voice desperate, and lunged forward to grab Noah's legs.
"Please, Noah… please…" she begged, clutching him as if he were her last anchor.
"Didn't I confess myself? Won't I get some sort of reprieve?"
"No, you won't," Gianna said calmly, folding her hands across her chest, her voice steady where Esme's was fraying. "I will make sure you won't."
Arthur cleared his throat then, his face sliding back into its familiar composed mask.
