Chapter 35 - Returning to the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect

Around the Eyes of Ice and Fire, countless rare flowers and exotic plants bloomed, competing in beauty.

Su Cheng and Du Gu Bo walked among them, talking while picking various precious herbs. Su Cheng casually explained the uses of some of the immortal herbs.

"Eight-Petaled Immortal Orchid, a top-grade medicinal herb. Its properties are gentle and mellow, easily absorbed. It can consolidate the foundation and remove impurities from the body. You can save it for your granddaughter when she later cultivates her foundation.

"Moonshadow Flower, a supreme spiritual herb. Consuming it calms the mind and purifies the soul power. It's ideal to take during breakthrough attempts.

"Purple-Gold Dragon Bone Herb, an immortal spiritual herb that purifies the bloodline. I predict this herb is especially effective for beast martial souls; it may even help upgrade a martial soul. You could try taking it later; it might even raise the potential ceiling further."

"…"

Although Su Cheng had consumed a lot of herbs while concocting antidotes for snake venom and attribute potions recently, the place still looked lush and vibrant, barely changed from before.

Compared to the countless years of spiritual energy accumulated in the Eyes of Ice and Fire, what Su Cheng used was still only a small fraction.

Even he couldn't identify all the herbs. To make full use of them, he would need to spend time discerning their properties.

Soon, Su Cheng stopped in front of a herb, looking somewhat hesitant.

Previously, he had already collected four types of immortal herbs—the Cockscomb Phoenix Aster, Golden Silk Crystal Sword Grass, Extraordinary Mushroom Sky-Reaching Chrysanthemum, and Narcissus Jade Bone—and stored them in his spirit device.

Seeing this, Du Gu Bo thought he intended to pick a fifth herb, so he stepped forward and said, "Mr. Su, just take it. One more or less doesn't matter to me. Our family has enough for several generations."

Over the past days, Du Gu Bo had learned a little about herbalism. He knew that the stronger the herb's potency, the more careful one must be, as excessive use could be harmful.

Su Cheng shook his head upon hearing this.

"I said only four are needed. Naturally, I won't take more."

In front of Su Cheng was a seemingly ordinary white flower.

The flower was palm-sized, peony-shaped, with no leaves, its root connected to a solid black stone, evidently very heavy.

But on the unremarkable white petals were streaks of shocking blood-red patterns, giving a breathtaking impression.

This was the top-tier flower, Heart-Wrenching Red of Lovesickness.

To pick this flower, one must focus sincerely on their beloved and spit a mouthful of heartfelt blood onto the petals. Only then could it be harvested. No amount of skill could obtain it without true intent.

Upon consumption, it not only improves soul power but more importantly strengthens the user's foundation, with pure and lasting effects and almost no side effects.

In terms of efficacy, it was among the very top of all immortal herbs.

After a moment of silence, Su Cheng looked at Du Gu Bo and said, "I'll take this herb first. If it proves useful, I'll return the Cockscomb Phoenix Aster to you."

Du Gu Bo, knowing Su Cheng's character, understood that if he said he didn't need it, he really didn't. He could only smile helplessly: "Do as you please."

A day later, Su Cheng, with his face completely transformed, stood outside the Eyes of Ice and Fire and bowed to Du Gu Bo in farewell.

"Mr. Su, are you returning to Wu Hun City now?"

"I have some matters to attend to first, then I'll return to Wu Hun City. I'll come back to see you before I leave," Su Cheng said solemnly. "Du Gu Bo, I hope you will act as if I never left the Eyes of Ice and Fire."

Du Gu Bo was first stunned, then realized.

No wonder he had spent nearly two hours that morning concocting several potions to alter his appearance.

Originally, he thought it was for safety. Now it seemed Su Cheng had some secret plans he didn't want the Martial Soul Hall to know about.

But Su Cheng was the family's lifesaver, and Du Gu Bo was always clear about gratitude and resentment. He nodded without hesitation.

"No problem. Do you want me to accompany you?"

"No need. You're a Douluo. Acting together would attract too much attention."

"Very well, I wish you all the best."

Du Gu Bo did not insist. He knew that although Su Cheng's cultivation wasn't high, his methods were numerous, so there would be no problem.

A few days later, beneath the main gate of the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect.

A middle-aged man of ordinary appearance, seemingly inconspicuous, looked up at the renowned atmosphere of the Upper Three Sects.

This man was Su Cheng.

After several years, he finally returned to the place where he grew up.

Before he could feel nostalgia for what had changed, a sharp reprimanding voice interrupted him.

"Hey, uncle over there! This is private property. Strangers are not allowed to stay."

The speaker was a young disciple guarding the mountain.

Seeing Su Cheng was a spirit master, he wasn't particularly aggressive, but he wasn't polite either.

As one of the Upper Three Sects, the disciples of the Seven Treasures Glazed Sect were arrogant by nature.

Seeing Su Cheng make no move, the disciple intended to drive him away.

Su Cheng didn't waste words. He took out an identification token from his spirit device and tossed it over.

In a low, hoarse voice, he said:

"Recognize this token? Go find Sword Douluo Mian. He will come out to see me."

The disciple took the token and was immediately shocked.

It was a Seven Treasures Glazed Sect elder token, possessed only by Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo.

He dared not delay and, without questioning why Su Cheng had it, hurried to report it inside the sect.

In fact, this token belonged to Chen Xin himself.

After achieving Douluo, his identity was known to all, and his status in the sect was extremely high—almost second only to the sect master. Normally, he didn't even need the token to prove his identity.

So when he left, he gave the token to Su Cheng for later use.

While Su Cheng waited outside the mountain, inside the sect's core residence, there was a cheerful scene.

Besides Ning Fengzhi, Chen Xin, and Gu Rong, a small, lively girl ran around playfully.

Though still very young, spirit masters tend to mature early, especially those with high talent.

At around three years old, Ning Rongrong was already able to remember things and recognize people, able to read and write.

She was very familiar with Chen Xin and Gu Rong, who had no children, treating her like their own granddaughter.

Watching Ning Rongrong grow day by day, Chen Xin often thought of his adopted son, imagining how he was faring in Wu Hun City.

Occasionally, he would feel quietly saddened.

Given Su Cheng's temperament and martial soul talent, no matter how advanced his theoretical knowledge or meticulous his mind, life in the Martial Soul Hall—a place full of powerful masters—would undoubtedly be difficult.
