Chapter 1 - Dream

A boy, running more so casually in a world where only night rules, stopped only by a huge shadow.

The shadow has eyes. The shadow speaks.

"Remember….. beware of coincidences…. This hint shall guide you. For what you foresee, shall be a mystery for your near future."

"This world shall crumble, petrify into dust, because you exist…. The things you did in your past life shall run you down till you want to be dead."

"You must fix everything before the moderator gets even more sophisticated…. I shall repeat this once more, beware of the coincidences you'll face."

Suddenly, a sharp voice pierced through the darkness. A bright light flooded his vision.

"Wake up! It's already 2 in the afternoon, you moron!"

He jolted awake. His mother stood over him, arms crossed.

"Spending your entire summer break in bed is such a waste of your youth. Get your life together and get serious! You're only sixteen!" she scolded.

"Ah… yeah… sure, whatever." he mumbled.

"Don't just sit there. Get these errands done before sunset!"

Still groggy, he got ready to leave, only to realize that one of his shoes was missing. With a sigh, he settled for his sandals instead.

Just as he was about to turn towards the shop, the strap of his sandals came undone, prompting him to pause and fasten it. Moments later, as he was about to cross the road, a car with malfunctioning brakes hurtled forward at full speed, culminating in a violent crash.

He miraculously survives. Looking back he noticed the car did not even have a driver inside. Probably, the parking brakes were compromised.

On his way home he thinks again about how crazy that coincidence was. Oblivious to the nature of the situation, he walked away as if it were only normal for the likes of him.

This is his story.

And now, strangely enough, it has become mine as well.

"These sandals are really lucky for me. These sandals have powers, I swear. One time they led me straight to a wallet, and, uh, I may or may not have claimed the 'reward' myself." Abc comments.

He seemed cheerful on his way back home, but froze at the gate. How was he supposed to explain the crash near the store, and more importantly, how he had survived it?

"Mother!"

"Mother!"

"Shut up!"

"I guess the crash wasn't loud enough."

It was almost dinner time, yet Abc stayed in front of his computer, completely absorbed in his game. He had been playing for a while without saving, too caught up to think about it. Then, without any warning, a sudden blackout hit. The screen went dark, his frustration high.

"...all that progress, gone just like that."

He headed down to join his family for dinner. He was still thinking about his game, although at the table his head finally cleared and he started thinking about the crash that happened today, the coincidence, the way his life was saved by what, a mere lucky chance? Abc is not someone who thinks too highly of something that clearly has an explanation. The crash today had no effect on his mentality.

While he had spent his whole day on autopilot, he had forgotten something that has a direct link with the crash.
