Chapter 21 - Magic Path

Red watched his target approach the fresh Rabbon. He was holding the slingshot in his left hand, loaded with his thorny metal ball, and ready to shoot.

The unsuspecting target approached the bait he had put on the ground. It sniffed around, checking the surroundings carefully. It licked the blood, seeming to enjoy it while remaining alert to its surroundings. The moment it took the first bite, a whistling sound resounded.

Before it could see what it was, something hard and fast hit the back of its head. That sent it to the ground, falling with its head first. It tried to get up, but its body swayed around. A big shadow loomed over it before it could get back on its feet.

Red pierced the marget's head with his dagger and killed it instantly. A grin formed on his lips as everything went according to plan. It went smoothly, and he took down the marget without taking any risk.

He didn't hesitate to exchange the marget with loot. It was because he still hoped for two Magic Cores, wanting to find out what would happen if all his attributes reached the maximum number.

Again, luck was not on his side as he got 1 coin and 2 Might Cores. He clicked his tongue, putting the coin into his pouch, and absorbed the cores.

Those two cores increased his Endurance and Dexterity by 0.4. This made him think that the core from the marget and the rabbon might be different in quality. These two cores gave him 0.4 in value, while most of the rabbon's cores gave him 0.2.

He got up and looked for his precious metal ball, rubbing his chin while looking for the ball.

"I see… I should focus on hunting on the marget for the loot and bring back the rabbon for the tribe," That's the quickest way to increase his attribute.

Bringing back marget was to gain favor from the matron. The rabbon was for his extra meal. He would exchange the marget surplus for loot.

Red made a plan in his head already to bring five to seven rabbon and two to three marget back each day. If he brought the same number, the matron and the others might be suspicious of him. He needed to alter the number each day.

The thought of hunting farther from the tribe crossed his mind, but he didn't have the courage to do so yet. Today was his second day, and he didn't want to be greedy by taking unnecessary risks.

Red found the metal ball and picked up the dead rabbon, moving to a new area. The marget hunting went smoothly thanks to the slingshot. The idea of using rabbon as bait was brilliant since rabbon was easy to hunt.

On his seventh marget, he remembered about checking the level of marget. The dead marget and rabbon didn't give him the information about their level. The excitement about his new weapon made him forget about that.

On the seventh marget, he aimed at the body instead of the head. That one shot was enough to slow it down, and his second shot landed on the hind leg.

Red then rushed out of his hiding spot and held the marget on the neck, pinning it down. He immediately used Appraisal on the marget.

Marget - F Rank Beast

Level: 1

Skill: Bleeding Bite

After getting the information, he swiftly killed the marget. He put aside the two bodies, getting to a safer place. He made sure to keep the two dead bodies further, not too close, but not too far, in case marget came. He didn't want to get ambushed while checking on this new information.

The first thing that caught his attention was its level. It was level 1, one level higher than him. That made him wonder about the rabbon's level. If he had to guess, the rabbon was level 0 just like him. That might explain why the marget gave more core.

It had skill, and the name was kinda self-explanatory about what the skill did. He must avoid the marget's bite, not interested in finding out what the skill did.

Then there was this new information, F Rank Beast. He didn't know how to interpret the new information, not knowing what this rank implied.

Red had gotten used to the frustration of not understanding the information about this stuff. It didn't bother him as much anymore. He was still frustrated, but he was better at handling this frustration.

He looked up at the sky, checking the time. The sun was going down, and he maybe only had three or four hunts.

He was done with the new information and picked up the two dead beasts. He didn't exchange the marget in case he could not get another marget.

Red was worried that he might not be able to get more marget, but he ended up hunting three more marget before deciding to go back. He had four marget and one rabbon at the end.

He exchanged the rabbon and two marget for loots, getting 5 cores and 3 copper coins. His eyes widened in surprise, a pleasant surprise as he found 2 Magic Cores among the 5 cores.

He got 2 Magic Cores exactly when he didn't desire them. He gave up on getting Magic Core after failing to get it in his fifth marget.

Red grabbed the two Magic Cores and absorbed them. His curiosity could no longer be contained, wanting to know what happened after maxing his Magic Attributes quickly. As soon as he finished absorbing the core, he got a notification.

[You have met the requirement to level up by taking the Magic Path!]

[Do you want to take the Magic Path and level up?]

This was what Red had been waiting for: to level up. He had been wondering how to raise his level, and he finally found out how to level up. He was happy with this knowledge, but there was something that bothered him: Magic Path.

He didn't know what this Magic was about in the first place. No one would guide him in magic either. He preferred taking the Might Path if there was one. There should be one since there was a Magic Path.

Might Path was more straightforward and easier to understand for someone like him who had no one to teach him about this awakening. Might Path was a safer choice for him.

Red clicked his tongue, annoyed with his situation.

"Status!"

He almost maxed his Endurance, his Vitality had doubled before he started hunting, and his Dexterity also almost maxed out.

"Let's be patient and wait for Might Path instead."

Red decided not to level up with Magic Path. It might only take him one or two days to max his Might Attributes. He decided to wait until then. It was not like he needed to level up in a hurry.
