I complied and started submitting the material on the table, I wasn't looking up so I didn't know what happened but then Josh laughed out so hard that I was confused for a while, he stood up a patted my shoulder saying
Josh: Take your time, I will be leaving first. When you are done, you report back to your department
And just like that he left the office all while still laughing. I never knew Josh is this playful, I think he shares a good relationship with Mr Holland otherwise he wouldn't be this free around him and even teasing him too. I wondered what it would feel like to tease this grumpy Mr Holland, it must really feel good. At the thought of that a chuckle escapes my mouth making me cover my mouth. Controlling myself I looked at Mr Holland and be asked
Vince: What's funny
Tamara: Nothing
Remembering that I had come to submit a review, I quickly presented them to him.
Tamara: Here is our review for the week
He picks up the file and starts to examine it. Now sitting idle I begin to wonder whether I should leave or wait but before I could react he asked
Vince: How is your school
Tamara: It's fine
He drops a card before me
Vince: That's the pass card to your apartment
Tamara: (surprised) my apartment?
Vince: It's free for my employees
Tamara: I can pay rent
Vince: I said it's free for my employees, there's no need to pay rent, you're not my only employee that's living there for free, my assistant lives there too and he's going to show you the place after work
Tamara: Oh
Vince: You can stay there when ever you want, It's yours
Tamara: Thank you
Vince: You will take back the file during your next review submit
Tamara: Okay, I will take my leave now
So I left the office, as I closed the door behind me I took a deep breath. Now remembering that I came up through a different elevator, I was wondering which way to go when I heard someone say
James: Hi
I looked over and saw a young guy coming from a desk nearby and there's even another guy standing there as well. Oh my God! have they been here all along? I came up here with a jumbled mind that I didn't even see them. The guy walks up to me and I greeted back
Tamara: Hi
James: I'm James Mr Holland's assistant, I will take you to go see your apartment after work in the evening
Tamara: Oh, nice to meet you James
James: Yeah, nice to meet you too…..
Tamara: Tamara
James: Tamara, so are you looking for your way out?
Tamara: (chuckles) yes, I actually came up through this one and now I don't know if I'm supposed to use it again
James: Ok, this elevator is exclusively meant for our president and the vice must have used it out of convenience so this one is the elevator we're all meant to use.
He directed me to the other elevator
Tamara: I see….., thank you
James: Yeah, see you in the evening
Tamara: Okay
I took the elevator down and went back to my department, reporting back to my leader before continuing my work.
After work in the evening, I was coming out of the building wondering how to meet James. I should have collected his number. My phone starts vibrating inside my bag, I took it out and it was an unknown number calling, I press the receiver button and put it on my ear, then I heard
James: miss Tamara I'm waiting for you outside the gate
Tamara: James?
James: Yeah
Tamara: Alright I'm coming out
I hastened up my steps and went outside the gate, I saw a black SUV packed outside, it made a beep sound and I walked towards it then the window rolled down showing James, so I got into the passenger seat and we drove off. We reached the building which wasn't far from the company and it was just so good, both the environment and the interiors are all more than good. It's a two conjoined three story building, each floor of the building is divided into two making it double flat in every floor. James and I are both on the third floor, our apartments are next to each other. We came into my apartment and it was already fully furnished and decorated, both the kitchen, bedrooms and sitting room. Everything is fully set and cleaned as if someone is already living in it. I'm really grateful for this. Although Liam has left his suite pass card with me, I haven't been able to stay there again because I haven't been on holiday. But now I can freely stay here whenever I want. This job really comes with a great privilege. After exploring my new apartment James dropped me off at the bus station before going back and I went back to school. Life goes on and I never miss my review submissions every Saturday as that's the only time I could see Mr Holland. We actually became closer but still not a definite relationship, I guess I'm probably just a friend of his like Josh is. I also found out so many other things about him, like his family background and the fact that he is also the successor of the mighty Holland company that has been dominating the US for ages, that's actually his family's company. I literally called him greedy because I see no reason for him to secretly start another company of his own, like what does he want again? He said that Jetro is his dream, he can give up his family's company but not Jetro. Well, I still maintain that he's greedy because he now has both companies. Soon, the rumor of my review visit to the executive building becomes the talk of the company. Considering the fact that I haven't been in the company for long and a part time worker too, I shouldn't be submitting reviews. Even I myself have thought about it but that's the decision made by my boss right? So why should I worry about it, especially when it benefits me. My colleagues have also asked about it and our leader has stated that it's a way of me helping him since he's always busy and finds it hard to go for the reviews and also because I am a good relation of the boss. Now this would make sense right? Because my colleagues have accepted it like that and there's really nothing to worry about as this isn't a promotion. Their salary as full time workers is still higher than mine as a part time worker. But to other departments especially our DP B. This is completely absurd to them with so many of them already making assumptions and narratives about me and the boss and about how I was promoted to the main department without a full degree and as a part time worker and now submitting reviews? So I think that in order to control these narratives a new rule and regulation was released stating that "romantic relationship among workers is highly prohibited and failure to adhere will lead to immediate dismissal" so the case closed.
