The urge to smash my phone against the office wall was overwhelming. My grip tightened around the device as rage coursed through my veins. That lying, manipulative bastard had done it again.
How many times would I let Jefferson Harding make a fool of me? I should have learned by now, but something about him always made me believe we were finally getting somewhere.
"Still no answer from him?"
I spun around to find Nadia hovering near the doorway, worry creasing her brow. Her nervous energy only fueled my anger. "Nothing," I said through gritted teeth, then fixed her with an intense stare. "You're absolutely certain you have no idea where he went? Nadia, I know we're friends. I know Jefferson intimidates you, but you can be honest with me."
