The silence stretched between them like a taut wire ready to snap, Halle's revelation hanging in the air like a death knell.
"Cursed."
The single word reverberated through my skull, each repetition feeling like claws raking across my mind. My fingers tightened around the table's edge until my knuckles went bone white. Blood roared in my ears, drowning out everything except that damning word.
"What the hell do you mean by cursed?" The words tore from my throat in a growl that made my wolf pace restlessly beneath my skin.
