Elisabeth's POV
The atmosphere in the room was suffocating, tension so dense it seemed to press against my lungs. Everyone had gone statue-still after Alana's explosive outburst. The quiet was unbearable, interrupted only by the soft whir of ventilation overhead.
I wished I had never let Alana drag me from the restaurant, her insistence that we needed to stop this alliance before it could take root. While I agreed that Javier shouldn't partner with Andy, the reality was they were both Alphas. Their alliances were their own decisions, not mine, and definitely not Alana's, regardless of the bitter history Andy and I shared.
I had tried reasoning with her, but she refused to listen.
Now we stood in the eye of a hurricane I desperately wanted to escape.
My eyes swept the room, carefully avoiding Jefferson's direction. What was he even doing here? Seated so composed in Javier's private office, sharing space with Andy of all people.
Nothing about this situation made sense.
