Elisabeth's POV
My phone buzzed against the table, and I glanced down to see Alana's name flashing on the screen. The moment I answered, her excited voice practically burst through the speaker.
"Mandy, oh my God, did you see the news? Jefferson just announced your wedding date!"
The words hit me like ice water. My heart stuttered to a complete stop. "What?"
The restaurant suddenly felt suffocating, the walls pressing in from all sides. I could barely breathe as Alana's voice continued chattering in my ear, but her words became nothing more than background noise.
"Three days, Mandy! Can you believe it? Three days and you'll be Mrs. Harding!"
Three days. He had announced our wedding to the entire world, and I was finding out through my best friend's phone call. Not from him. Not even a courtesy text. Nothing.
Rex leaned forward across the table, his expression shifting from casual conversation to immediate concern. "Elisabeth? What's wrong?"
