Elisabeth's POV
The words crashed over me like a tidal wave, drowning every breath in my lungs. Alana's voice seemed to come from somewhere far away, her hands shaking my shoulders as she tried to anchor me to reality.
"Mandy, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"
But how could I explain the knife that had just twisted through my chest? How could I tell her that the man I'd given everything to had just reduced me to nothing more than an inconvenience? His voice still rang in my ears, each word a fresh wound.
