Ana's POV
I could tell Morris thought I was about to call him out. He looked away quickly, then took a deliberate sip of water, trying to act casual.
The moment I caught his dodge, everything clicked. I couldn't help but laugh softly, sunlight warming my face as I felt that familiar playful energy bubble up.
Morris's gaze flickered, his throat working as he swallowed hard. For just a heartbeat, something shifted in his expression.
Then he seemed to shake himself back to the present. "You're not pissed?"
"About what?" I sank back into the couch, finally letting my shoulders drop after the endless day I'd had.
"The Watson Group isn't my problem. You're clearly targeting them because of me, so why would I be mad at you?"
Relief washed over Morris's features when he realized I genuinely wasn't upset.
I pushed myself off the couch and squeezed into his single chair right beside him.
"Do you have to crowd me like this?" I complained, though my tone was more teasing than annoyed.
