Ana's POV
Madeline and I sat across from each other in an upscale steakhouse, cutting into our meals when she suddenly dropped her silverware. Her eyes shot daggers at me. "The national designer competition kicks off in just one month, and your studio is barely up and running. I'm trying to help you here!"
I grinned at her. "I appreciate that you want to help, but I won't let you sacrifice your career for me. Working at my tiny operation would be a real step backward for you."
Madeline shook her head softly. "I believe in my own instincts."
My smile turned genuine. "Then let me officially welcome you aboard, Ms. Nash, renowned designer."
We both laughed and decided that since we had time to kill, I could show her around Marcel afterward.
Excusing myself, I got up and headed to the ladies' room.
