Ana's POV
Isobel's comment made it sound like I knew Yolanda was here but chose to ignore her on purpose.
I frowned at Isobel. "Ms. Hogan, you didn't mention who you were having dinner with earlier, did you?"
Isobel kept smiling, but malice flashed in her eyes.
She covered her mouth deliberately and gave me what looked like an apologetic expression.
"Oh, what am I thinking? Ms. Vernon has a company dinner tonight. Even if I were out with Morris, she probably wouldn't come over to say hello."
She glanced toward the four people eating in our private room, disdain flickering across her face.
Pitiful studio. Pitiful people.
She wanted Yolanda to think that for my pathetic employees' sake, I'd abandoned basic manners at my worthless studio.
And that I wasn't fit to be the Welch family's daughter-in-law.
But Yolanda was already taking my hand gently.
"Work comes first, of course. I just wanted to see you, and we'll head out once we finish eating."
