Ridley held back the urge to chase after them until Morris and Ana had left completely. Then he planned to take Hughes to meet Toby.
But just as he took a couple of steps, his phone buzzed. Toby was calling.
"Sorry, Mr. Collin, something just came up. We'll have to cancel the contract signing today. I'll send someone over with the paperwork for you to sign instead. Hope that's okay and you aren't too upset," Toby said.
Ridley was initially irritated, feeling like he'd been played.
But when he heard that Toby would send the contract over, his annoyance dissolved.
"No problem, Mr. Derick. Handle your business," Ridley replied.
After hanging up, Ridley left with Hughes.
Ridley had planned to return to the office, but Hughes had afternoon training, so he needed to drop the kid off first.
If Toby hadn't insisted that Ridley bring Hughes along—going on about how cute the kid was and wanting to see him more—Ridley definitely wouldn't have dragged the little guy around all day.
