Chapter 131 - Mary Jane's Internal Thoughts

Gwen walked up to Curt, wanting to take the documents from his hand.

But how could Curt dare to actually assign Gwen any work?

He shook his head. "I am healthier now than ever before, and I want to experience a perfectly normal life more fully."

"You just need to keep an eye on them and assist me with a few minor tasks."

Gwen nodded.

She did not suspect Curt of having any ulterior motives. After all, everyone knew that Curt himself was one of the miracles created by Aaron, the CEO of Osborn Industries.

"Folks, you can gather closer. This is the Tree of Life of Osborn Industries."

Curt pointed to a tree, shimmering with golden light, created by a 3D projection in the center of the venue, signaling everyone to come forward.

The technological achievements developed by Osborn Industries were illuminated on this tree. Every light spot was the crystallization of wisdom, containing the efforts and sweat of countless people.

Subsequently, the Tree of Life transformed into a complex vascular network diagram.

"I think you must be very curious about what this is."

"Yes, what you see before you is the working principle of the miracle created by our Corporation's and the world's most legendary figure, Mr. Aaron, known as the God of miracles: the limb regeneration potion."

As soon as the name Aaron was mentioned, everyone gasped in surprise.

After only one day and night of fermentation, the name Aaron was already known to every household. Everyone knew that Aaron was about to create an unprecedented perfect world.

He had taken a huge step forward in biomedical science, single-handedly driving the entire human race forward.

Gwen listened with excitement, her eyes shining brightly.

Perhaps, one day, she would be able to personally serve that legendary figure.

She was looking forward to it.

The crowd was completely immersed in the legendary stories Curt was narrating.

As they heard about the test results and principles of the limb regeneration potion, they couldn't help but be astonished by Aaron's genius idea.

Inadvertently, Curt looked up and suddenly spotted Aaron's figure behind the crowd.

Aaron made a gesture to him, signaling him to keep quiet.

Curt immediately understood and continued recounting the interesting events that occurred in the laboratory.

As a legend admired by others, honestly, Aaron felt pressured. He knew his own limitations, his understanding of these things was actually not comprehensive.

If he truly had to step forward, he would probably be clueless.

'Perhaps I should spend some time every day supplementing my knowledge?' Aaron pondered.

With his current brain, one hour a day was enough to match the effect of several months of hard study for an ordinary person.

He had to maintain his persona, right?

While Aaron was thinking, he suddenly noticed a gaze.

He looked up.

A red-haired girl at the back of the crowd was staring blankly at him, covering her mouth.

This girl was very beautiful, and her figure was quite voluptuous.

Just one look, and Aaron knew her child wouldn't have to worry about having enough milk to drink.

Mary Jane was a student at Midtown High School, and also a classmate of Peter and Harry.

She was Peter Parker's neighbor since he was six years old.

She was beautiful and very sexy.

But her family situation was quite terrible. She had lived with only her father since childhood, and her father was an alcoholic who often scolded her.

This kind of life made Mary Jane yearn for a better future even more.

Since childhood, she had aspired to become an actress, gaining everyone's attention, wealth, and fame.

To achieve this goal, she taught herself dancing and some acting courses.

She usually worked odd jobs at convenience stores and other places to cover her living expenses.

And she worked hard to package herself as a successful girl.

To outsiders, she was very lively and cheerful. However, no one knew her true side.

Mary Jane envied Gwen. Becoming an employee of Osborn Industries was a great honor.

In the last two days, if someone claimed to work at Osborn Industries headquarters, they would inevitably become the object of everyone's praise.

What's more, Gwen had gained the appreciation of Professor Curt. No one would doubt her future.

Starting from this day, Gwen's starting point might be the finishing line they could never reach in their lifetime.

There was no helping it. Life's fortunes varied, and they could only watch, wishing they could take her place.

Although Mary Jane wanted to become a big star, if she could become an employee of Osborn Industries and an assistant to Curt, that would also be quite perfect.

During her future high school and university years, the entire school would look at her, point, and say enviously: Look, that's Mary Jane.

She would certainly escape that terrible family and shake off her nightmare-like childhood.

Unconsciously, Mary Jane fell behind the crowd.

Her mind was not on the interesting anecdotes being lectured by Curt. When she noticed Curt's momentary distraction when he looked behind her, she came to her senses.

Sensing that Curt was acting strangely, the sensitive Mary Jane subconsciously looked back, and was surprised to find that the legendary figure, Aaron, was standing right behind the crowd, watching them.

Mary Jane was very smart. Recalling Curt's reaction, she immediately covered her mouth to avoid screaming and attracting the attention of others.

Aaron put a finger to his lips, and Mary Jane nodded excitedly.

Oh my god, Aaron is greeting her.

She felt dizzy. What a great honor it was to make eye contact with such an existence, and even be noticed by him.

If others heard about it, they would definitely go crazy.

Mary subconsciously wanted to show off her most perfect side. She deliberately puffed out her chest, revealing her ample curves.

She mimed zipping her lips with her right hand, signaling that she absolutely would not speak carelessly, and then smiled brightly at Aaron.

Aaron nodded to her, then continued looking at the crowd.

Mary was extremely happy inside, and wondering what to do next, she subconsciously looked toward the crowd.

Suddenly, she sensed something was wrong.

Aaron's gaze seemed to be lingering near Curt? Or perhaps on Gwen, who was standing beside Curt?

Mary's mood instantly soured.

To be honest, she was confident that she was beautiful and had a first-rate figure, but Gwen was subtly a touch more beautiful than her.

But her advantages were very obvious. She was confident that her figure was definitely better than Gwen's.

Mary was a highly goal-oriented person. She knew her advantages and what her goals were.

She had preserved her most precious asset till now.

She outwardly acted experienced, even often making remarks that made other girls envious and surprised. But in reality, these were all experiences she had heard from the female owner of the convenience store.

If she had to admit where she was inferior to Gwen, it was probably in academics.

Mary's high school grades were not ideal. She needed to spend a lot of time grooming herself and working odd jobs.

Not to mention being good, her grades were simply a mess, unbearable to look at.

Meanwhile, Gwen was a famous academic Genius at Empire State University. She was often active in school, participating in various activities and gaining great attention with her excellent management experience and academic results.

Without a doubt, for a super Corporation, this was exactly the kind of talent they needed.

Mary bit her lip, looking at Gwen with jealousy.

'No, I haven't lost. I understand my advantages better than you.'

Mary's heart was filled with competitiveness and the desire to win.

She wanted to show herself off and gain the affirmation of others.

Especially... Aaron.

Mary clenched her fist, slowed her steps further, and quietly slipped away from the crowd while others weren't paying attention.
