Chapter 12: Departure
After confirming from Vegeta that he'd indeed met Beerus as a child, Turles felt completely reassured. Though Broly's existence had basically confirmed this was the main Dragon Ball universe, Turles's character existed in a gray area canonically. He'd worried about being in a parallel timeline where his foreknowledge would lose value.
With his transmigrator advantage confirmed intact, Turles's mood soared. He didn't torment Vegeta further, restraining the still-eager Paragus and having Karlo take Vegeta for medical treatment.
He wondered if his interference would prevent Goku from developing as in canon. The Saiyan invasion of Earth would definitely lack Raditz's participation. Without Raditz, would Goku still die and run Snake Way to train with King Kai?
Things were getting interesting!
After dealing with Vegeta, Turles prepared to leave. Vegeta's commotion might draw Frieza's attention. Better to disappear before the emperor investigated.
Summoning Karlo, Turles learned Vegeta had been settled. He didn't care much, instead ordering preparations for ships and supplies. Most importantly, he wanted to recruit Karl and his fellow Kaburu scientists. Research personnel ranked low in Frieza's hierarchy—taking them wouldn't attract attention.
After sending Karlo to prepare, Turles called Karl and got straight to the point.
Hearing Turles wanted to bring him along, Karl showed no resistance. This was survival strategy for displaced species in the universe—without power, attach yourself to the powerful. Don't fear being wanted; fear having no value.
Seeing Turles's decent temperament, Karl proactively offered to bring several fellow Kaburu with similar research talents.
Turles naturally agreed to this windfall. After Karl left to gather his people, Turles finally had free time.
Rather than training, he took Broly sightseeing through the planet's cities. A chance to experience something different!
Two days later, Turles departed B-1000 aboard a large ship, heading toward the next layover planet.
He naturally didn't know about Vegeta waking up and searching everywhere to challenge him again.
Aboard the spaceship.
Turles met Karl's fellow tribesmen. Same purple skin—without different ki signatures, they'd be indistinguishable. But Turles didn't mind. He'd summoned them primarily to remove potential listening devices from the ship and from Paragus and Raditz's scouters. Having decided to leave Frieza's territory, better eliminate these risks early.
Hearing the request, Karl and his companions exchanged nervous glances, suddenly realizing something. Their expressions grew uneasy as Turles watched silently.
After a long pause, Karl tremblingly accepted the task.
Seeing Karl's compliance, Turles offered his commitment: once settled, he'd designate territory on the Saiyan planet for the Kaburu to continue their species.
The promise dramatically boosted Karl and his team's motivation. They immediately threw themselves into work.
Managing subordinates through violence alone was less effective than promising them a future—Turles understood this well from his previous life.
Though it wasn't entirely manipulation. Fewer than 100 Saiyans probably survived across the Seventh Universe. Even with a new Saiyan planet, finding scattered survivors across the entire universe wouldn't be simple. Four people couldn't handle it alone—they'd need help. As a scientist, Karl could provide valuable assistance.
Plus, spreading a handful of Saiyans across an entire planet would be incredibly sparse. Designating areas for these technology species would solve logistics while adding some population.
Original Planet Vegeta had operated similarly. Though the Saiyans were a famous warrior race, their total numbers weren't high. Before destruction, fewer than 100,000 Saiyans lived on the planet. Even adding exiled low-class warriors brought the total under 200,000—endangered species status in cosmic terms.
A future Saiyan planet would need population growth or face eventual extinction. Since Turles wanted Paragus to rebuild Saiyan society to support his training, incorporating other species was essential.
But that was future planning. Turles had more immediate priorities.
Pulling out star charts, he began marking locations.
First: Planet Namek.
As the Dragon Ball universe's most important tool, the Dragon Balls were unavoidable. Whether Earth's, Namek's, or even the Super Dragon Balls.
Earth's balls were currently unreachable due to route issues. The Super Dragon Balls were split between the Sixth and Seventh Universes—crossing that gap was beyond his current abilities. That left only Namek's Dragon Balls as viable options. Turles had already compiled several wishes to fulfill!
Second: Planet Yardrat.
Another unique world in the universe. This planet possessed many special techniques, and its inhabitants generously shared their knowledge. In canon, Goku had accidentally landed there and learned Instant Transmission—whose importance needed no explanation. Yardrat was definitely on Turles's itinerary.
Actually, another unexpected planet appeared on the charts: Planet Metamor!
This world was only mentioned in Dragon Ball when Goku explained Fusion Dance origins—he'd learned the technique from a Metamoran in the afterlife.
Vegito, Gogeta, Gotenks—all used fusion for exponential power multiplication. Kid Trunks and Goten, only capable of Super Saiyan 1 individually, could transform to Super Saiyan 3 after fusing. And Gogeta and Vegito, formed from Goku and Vegeta, were absurdly powerful. Base form demolished Majin Buu—stronger than Mystic Gohan. Later versions could fight Super Broly, who'd beaten Golden Frieza.
Though Turles remembered the Fusion Dance steps, requiring only experimentation to recreate, this planet wasn't a priority. If an opportunity arose, visiting wouldn't hurt.
Finally, the journey's destination: Galactic Patrol Headquarters at the galaxy's center.
The Galactic Patrol appeared infrequently in canon with unimpressive combat showings. But Turles knew they might harbor a hidden powerhouse—trainee Angel Merus!
Angels were a special race in the Dragon Ball cosmos. Whether the Angel attendants teaching each universe's God of Destruction or the mysterious Grand Priest, all belonged to the Angel tribe.
Setting aside the Grand Priest's strength, just the Seventh Universe's Angel Whis had knocked out God of Destruction Beerus—officially the Seventh Universe's strongest being—with a single chop. That demonstrated his power. Later, under Whis's guidance, Goku mastered Ultra Instinct!
As possibly Whis's brother, trainee Angel Merus might currently serve in the Galactic Patrol completing his Angel trials.
Being an Angel and Whis's brother, Merus's strength was guaranteed. If Turles gained his guidance, most worries would vanish.
Actually, Turles most wanted Whis's instruction—the simplest method in Dragon Ball. Just one good meal to win Whis's stomach, and the good-natured Angel would gladly teach.
But Whis currently guarded sleeping Beerus in the God of Destruction Realm—beyond Turles's reach. The Divine Realm wasn't accessible on a whim.
Turles had one more option: the Spirit Tree fruit. Find a living planet, plant the seed, consume the fruit. Simple!
But unless absolutely necessary, Turles avoided planting the Spirit Tree casually. Forget his own conscience—the afterlife's existence in Dragon Ball made him cautious.
In the Dragon Ball world, death didn't erase debts. After death, souls were judged by merit for Heaven or Hell—basically Buddhist philosophy manifested.
No matter your living strength, without transcending mortality, death stripped your power. But with world-saving merit, you could keep your body in the afterlife, living, training, fighting as before.
Understanding this, Turles even considered saving planets rather than destroying them. Why risk Hell by devastating worlds? Look at King Yemma—his sins were so extreme he'd been "punished" by assignment to Heaven, forced to endure angels' music eternally!
Without finding a safe Spirit Tree planting location, Turles wouldn't risk it lightly. Of course, in dire emergencies, survival trumped everything.
So even transmigrators weren't omnipotent. Without a reality-breaking system, even with supreme talent, you climbed step by step.
What advantage did transmigrators really have? Just information the canon characters lacked.
Properly utilize that advantage, and success was inevitable!
Having rare time to organize his future plans, Turles nodded with satisfaction. He had a clear direction now.
Stretching, he stood from his chair and walked to the viewport. Watching stars streak past, Turles felt confident about his future!
But confidence alone wasn't enough. He immediately resumed training.
Without the gravity chamber built and unsuitable space aboard for sparring with Broly, Turles limited himself to simple exercises—push-ups and similar movements. Mostly, he focused on meditation training.
