Seeing that George was tempted, Alvein tirelessly used his silver tongue to brainwash him.
He knew what a girl's father most wanted to hear: safety, focus, and high-quality teachers, all of which community schools could provide.
Matt, who had finished eating, walked over and said, "I can guarantee that everything Alvein said is true.
I don't think students from that school would fail to get into college."
After speaking, Matt's mouth twitched.
That school, like a concentration camp, would only cultivate learning and test-taking machines.
Matt asked himself if he had attended that school, he should have gone to Harvard Law School instead of Columbia University Law School.
It was rare for Matt to actively speak up for him, so Alvein, in a great mood, decided he could let Matt receive welfare for a few more months.
Chief George, having finished his business, drank another beer and then left.
He didn't seem to have a driver, but the police chief of the Big Apple City driving under the influence should not be a problem, no one would be so foolish as to bother him.
Seeing George leave, Matt looked as if he had something to say but was hesitant.
Alvein took out two cigars, handed one to him, and pulled him out of the restaurant.
Lighting the cigar, and greeting Thor and Dom affectionately, Alvein smiled and said, "Matt, just say what's on your mind."
Matt thought carefully for a moment and said, "If what Chief George said is true, then vampires also exist in Hell's Kitchen.
And I might have dealt with such things."
Alvein was a little surprised.
Vampires in Hell's Kitchen?
Why had he never heard of it?
Alvein said seriously, "Where? When?"
He couldn't tolerate such dangerous things near his school; they were completely outside the rules.
"About half a year ago, several times I heard a commotion and rushed over.
The victims were already dead, and I didn't know how they died, but there was very little blood at the scene.
The last time, when I arrived, the thing hadn't left yet, and the victim was still alive.
I chased the thing away.
The victim said 'vampire' before dying."
Matt recalled and described carefully, as he couldn't see and could only rely on hearing, so many details couldn't be clearly explained.
Alvein stroked his chin and asked, "How strong is that thing in combat? Is it easy to deal with?"
Matt thought for a moment and said, "It's very difficult to deal with; that thing is almost unkillable.
Its speed and strength are both excellent."
Alvein didn't know if the vampires here were the kind he knew about.
But he would soon find out.
He contacted his crows, telling them to watch out for suspicious people at night, especially those who brought someone back to their residence late at night and never went out during the day.
Matt hadn't mentioned encountering anything recently, so either the thing had left Hell's Kitchen, or it was feeding in a hidden place.
Ending their conversation, the two returned to the restaurant together.
In the restaurant, Ginny was giggling, being entertained by Foggy.
Alvein walked over, picked up his darling, and kissed her.
Looking at Foggy, he said, "If you're not busy today, don't leave.
I'm treating tonight.
Nick found his father, so we have to celebrate.
Drinks are on me."
Foggy cheered and said, "That's great, Alvein, old buddy.
This is definitely worth celebrating.
I need to get drunk; lately, I haven't even had money to get myself drunk."
...
That evening, the Peace Hotel closed early.
At 8 o'clock, the hotel's formal dinner began.
Two long dining tables were pushed together to form a large square table, where Jessica, Ginny, Nick, JJ, Frank, Matt, and Foggy sat.
Alvein was the first to stand up, raise his glass, and say, "This dinner today is for Nick finally finding his father, Frank.
I'm very happy that our family has gained another member."
Alvein tilted his head and looked at Frank, "I don't care if you acknowledge that you are one of us.
You are Nick's father, and I will consider you family.
My family creed has only one rule: never betray family."
"Cheers!"
Jessica was excited about her newfound family status, downing a large glass of beer.
Her face flushed, she looked at Alvein with a silly smile and said, "So you're my older brother?"
Alvein smiled, patted Jessica's head, and said, "Silly girl, I'm your boss-brother, and you're my waitress-sister.
No one can change that."
Jessica was a bit confused and asked, "What does that mean?"
Big-mouthed Nick, with his venomous tongue, yelled, "It means Alvein is still the boss, and you're still the waitress, Jessica, you're so silly.
You'll have a hard time finding a boyfriend in the future; no one likes a fool!"
Ignoring the death-seeking Nick, who was being pinched by an angry Jessica's ear, screaming in pain.
Alvein raised his glass to Matt and Foggy, "Guys, you are my best friends in Hell's Kitchen.
May our friendship last forever!"
"May our friendship last forever!"
The three clinked glasses and drank heartily.
"JJ, you scoundrel, when are you bringing Temple back?
We can have one more family member.
Also, starting tomorrow, get out of here and move next door.
Remember to clean up the storage room before you go."
"Boss, thank you!"
JJ pretended to wipe away a tear and clinked glasses with Alvein.
Alvein clearly saw that the guy was shedding tears but tried to act funny to avoid it.
Forget it, I won't expose you.
Looking at his precious daughter Ginny, who was holding a glass of apple juice, Alvein said, "Oh, and of course, my darling."
He clinked his large beer glass with her small water glass, giggling, and they drank a toast.
Ginny looked at Alvein happily and said, "Daddy, happy, Ginny, happy.
Giggle."
This girl was too sensible, much smarter than that silly boy Nick.
He didn't even see his real father watching him get beaten up by Jessica, looking miserable with nothing to say.
After silencing the foul-mouthed Nick, Jessica sat next to Alvein, pouting and sulking.
When a woman acts like this, a man should honestly apologize and coax her, otherwise, the consequences will be severe.
This was experience gained from a married man, paid for with blood and tears.
Rubbing Jessica's head, Alvein smiled and said, "No matter what you think, I've always considered you my sister.
You've always been my family; you stayed by my side during my toughest times.
This world is cruel to us; it made us lose our blood relatives.
But it's also fair; after that, it allowed us to find each other."
Jessica's eyes welled up with tears from the emotional words.
She lowered her head, not looking at Alvein, and muttered softly, "I don't want to be a sister."
Alvein pretended not to hear, patted Jessica's shoulder, and was about to turn to drink with JJ when Jessica suddenly hugged him and gave him a big kiss on the cheek.
Alvein smiled and said nothing; being kissed by a beautiful girl wouldn't make him lose a piece of flesh!
The death-seeking Nick was about to unleash his venomous tongue again when Frank, with quick reflexes, covered his mouth.
He had a premonition that if his son caused trouble now, his other leg would also be in danger.
Ginny saw Jessica kiss Daddy, and she absolutely had to kiss him too.
Alvein picked up Ginny, let her give him a big kiss, and then he returned a satisfied kiss.
He felt his life was complete.
