The night has became darker, where only darkness and the flickers of the candlelight reflects over the marble stones. Only the sounds of their shoes clicking onto the marbled floor, there were only silence as they walk back to their rooms. All three maids were holding onto the candles to light up their paths as Sabrina continues to walk leisurely while daydreaming about what just had happened between her and Vanessa. Yuri took a quick glance at Sabrina's flabbergasted expression, and rolled her eyes again. Yuri felt like there's no need for Sabrina to think too much into the situation since the obvious was stated right in front of her. But apparently it's not that obvious that it is making her trying to find the "answer" to the problem.
After a while, Yuri has realized that the path has become more and more unfamiliar.
---Ugh, I knew it---
Yuri let out a deep sighed quietly, as she wonders if she should say something about them walking in the wrong direction, but before she said anything, Sabrina halted her steps. She looked around her surrounding, then awkwardly laughed
"Hahaha.....It seems like the road got so dark that we didn't even notice we have gotten lost....haha"
The two girls, Sisi and Emily, also awkwardly laughed back as a respond to not make Sabrina feel awkward. Yuri just stood there quietly. Then she saw candle lights flickered inside a building that was not far from where they are. It was the only building that she saw that seems to have some live in it. And it seems like Sabrina has noticed it too.
"Ah-Over there"
Sabrina pointed towards that building. Sisi and Emily turned around to the direction that she was pointing at.
"Let see if there are anyone inside that building that can help us with the direction."
Before anyone said anything, their master have already started walking towards the direction of that building. When they got closer to the building, they realized that the door was not completely closed. The door was slightly cracked open, almost like it wanted them to go in.
Sisi knocked on the door lightly
"Hello? Is anyone there? We are Lady Sabrina's servants. We got a bit lost and was wondering if you guys could help us a bit with the direction...."
No one replied. Sisi knocked one more time
*Knock*knock*
"Are there anyone?...."
Still no one answered. Sisi looked back at Sabrina, giving her "what should we do now?" look. Then without saying anything, Sabrina walked closer to the door and pushed the door sightly. The door made a screeching noise as it moves, making the dark night and the warm orange color of the candles more eerie.
There are shelves of books, piling across from each other, and on the floor, there are also books that are stacked on top of each other. From the look of it, it seems like a library. So no one came out, Sabrina took couple steps inside the building.
"My Lady! You shoul--!"
Sabrina waved her hand at Sisi before she was able to finish her sentence. Seeing her master already made up her mind, she can't really do anything else other than following her from behind, and so did Emily and Yuri. Once they walked in, they were in awed with the amount of books that are in this building. There were several candles laid by the windows and some on the floor. Even with this amount of fires flickering around, trying to illuminate every corner of this room, there was still this very uncomfortable aura that Yuri is feeling when she walked in. Opposite of Yuri, Sabrina seemed to be very excited.
Sabrina browsed by each book shelves slowly and quietly, while Sisi and Emily were trying to illuminate the path for her so that she won't trip over. Yuri was walking right behind them, looking around the books that are lined and piled up in the shelves. Seeing the amount of dusts that are covering over the edges of the shelves and the books, it seems like this library was not used much. As Yuri was looking around, she realized that the people in front of her have stopped their steps. Sabrina pulled out a book that was all the way at the top of the shelve. Yuri walked over to see what her Lady had just grabbed.
"God's Creation"
Sabrina mumbled out the title of the book. Then her hands start flipping through the pages. Minutes after seconds and seconds after minutes, Sabrina just stood there as her violet eyes stared deep into the words like she was possessed.
---...Hmmm, I see...---
Yuri finally concluded her thoughts together. She already felt like something was off ever since she saw this library being all lit up and door that was opened even when there were no one inside. It seems like all of these were planned out according to the plot of this world.
Sabrina's sudden thought of wanting to take a walk, then the "coincidental" meeting with Vanessa, and then them getting lost late night, which made them found this library where everything seemed to be untouched, but the lights were lit up and the door was opened.....These things must have happened for tomorrows trial.
"I should've guessed it back then...."
Yuri mumbled to herself quietly. As she sighed out lightly, her eyes started to wonder around from boredom. Since Sabrina is taking her sweet time reading that book that she just picked up, Yuri started to walk away from them quietly. Just one aisle away from them, she slowly strolled among those old looking books. Out of curiosity, she randomly took out a thin looking book that read as:
"The Beginning and The End"
Like Sabrina, Yuri also started to flip through the pages. But before she was able to start reading the first sentence, a loud noise erupted the silence
*bang*
Yuri quickly ran back to Sabrina and the two maids side, and all three of them also looked like they were surprised by the sudden noise. Without a second thought, Sabrina bid the book that she was holding under dress. Which made Yuri realized that she was still holding the book also, and out of reflex she also hid the book in the pockets of her maid uniform. Good thing that the book is thin enough to fit in it. The all four of them walked towards the door slowly, to see where the noise came from. They saw a guy carrying a pile of books and thumped it onto the floor, and when he look up, he was also surprised from seeing four people suddenly popped out in front of him from nowhere.
"Y-You-Who Are you Guys!!"
The guy yelled out. From his appearance, it seems like he is one of the priest attendings. To calm him down, Sabrina quickly spoke out
"I apologize coming in so suddenly, but my name is Sabrina Arden. Me and my maids got lost from the late night stroll, and we were not able to find our way back. Since we saw the candle lights were lit up in here, we were planning to see if anyone can help us with the direction"
The guy still looked surprised, but after seeing Sabrina's face elegant beauty, he calmed down a bit
"I-I see, but still, n-next time you guys shouldn't just walked into any of the properties, other than the one that you guys were designated too. Since everything in this monastery are sacred, not every one can just walk in as they please..."
"I see, I understand. We won't next time"
Sabrina said it with the softest smile that she can provide, making her look like a noble lady that has never done or seen impurity in her life. Just an innocent elegant beautiful noble lady. Which did successfully made that guy loosen up a bit more, then continued saying with a much calmer tone
"Ahem-so, where do guys stay at?"
Emily told him where they are staying, and with his help, the four of them were finally able to reach back to their rooms. After finished helping their Lady's getting ready with bed, the three maids were also finally able to rest up.
Yuri laid on bed tiredly after she took her fast but refreshing bath. She turned her head towards the book that she laid next to her. After looking at that old and plain looking book for couple seconds, she grabbed it, then flipped through the book until she reached the first page and started reading:
"The existence of Heaven and Hell began way before the Moral realm, where the mortals live.....According to a prophet that was loved dearly by God: Way before the Moral Realm was created by God himself, there has always been an ongoing battles between the immortal beings of Heaven and Hell. Afterall, there has always been an disagreement between the deities in Heaven and the evils in Hell. But one day, a war broke out. A huge and bloodshed war that no mortals know exactly how long it has lasted....After hundreds have perished, Thousands followed, then Millions.....A war that seems to only have a beginning with no ending, suddenly ended. Not long after, the Moral Realm was created. Then came our existence, the mortals..."
Yuri read it word by word, page by page, until she has reached the end of the book. The book has around a little bit over 200 pages. Which became the shortest book that Yuri has ever read in any of her lifetimes. To summarize the book, it contained the history of the Mortal Realm beginning, slight introductions of the Heaven's deities and the Hell's evil beings and theories of Heaven's immortals coming down to enlighten them and Hell's evil came up to sabotage them. Maybe because it was a really short read, but everything seemed to be only briefly explained, with no descriptive details. Especially the title of the book. Yuri could some how understand the meaning behind the term "The Beginning" but she doesn't understand "The End".
What "End"? The only "End" that the book abruptly talked about was the ending of the great war between Heaven and Hell before the creation of mortals. Maybe it really could be about the beginning and the the end the war, but there were description on how and why the war ended. It all it said was "suddenly ended". Even the beginning of the war seems to be very abrupt also, by having no context before and after the "One day, a war broke out".
After reading this book, Yuri became serious as what the book in Sabrina's hand contain. Visually speaking, her book is thicker than the book that Yuri have. Yuri turned her body to the side as she starts to think of a way to read the book that Sabrina took. Her eyes met with the red flower that she picked up couple weeks ago, during her trip to the monastery. The red petals were still as vibrant as ever, which she was kind of surprised. She didn't expect the flower that she picked up to still be so alive after couple weeks, but she's glad. She switch the water every three days, making sure that the flower has fresh flow of water.
"Maybe because it's the water that came from a blessed place like this..."
Yuri whispered as she looks at that lively flower. Soon her tired eyes closed up and drifted her to a deep sleep.
A familiar person came to her again. The same person that comes to her dream every day, but soon forgets after waking up. His long black hair that dishevels between her fingers as she caress it gently.
"Alistair, I love you..."
She whispered closely to his ear, as he embraces her gently, like he is holding something precious.
His blood-lusted eyes stares are her softly. In awed.
He didn't say anything back to that person that he is holding so dearly in his arms. He just looks at her. He looks at her as her facial expression shows a bit of shyness. The way she blushes. The way she smiles. The way she looks at him...He looks at her like he was enchanted by the person in front of him. The reflections in his dark red eyes, were only her, and her only.
